Free Music Review: Beautiful and Enchanting, No matter what you idiots say
Hit: 5 Stars

Ok, I'm not calling everyone an idiot. I know the majority of you said 5 stars, like me. But here I am thinking, 'if so, how is the over all rating only 4.5?' Ok, most people wouldn't have cared. But after going through a few pages of reviews, I read some of the most, horrid, degrading, unapreciative reviews I have ever seen! (And trust me, I've read Catwoman reviews.) I don't see how anyone could dislike this music. The instrumentals, (such as 'Main Titles' and 'Up and Out') are marvelous! My favorite song on the CD would have to be 'Main Titles' for the somewhat haunting vocals and the overall drama of the music. I love the themes chosen for the songs about the kids, it really makes the movie original.
Something else I noticed was that people assume this soundtrack and movie was made to replace the original hit with Gene Wilder. No! This is not a remake or a replacement! It's a completely different movie, and should be treated as such in all respects. I hope people will take this seriously, even if this is a kid's review and I'm only 12. Please, this is a marvelous CD with brilliant music, and anyone who enjoys this style of music, or anything by Danny Elfman, will adore it.

Free Music Review: A great soundtrack!
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time i heard about the movie was when my family and I were going to the movies then the trailer came out(teaser trailer i think). I thought to myself,"this movie is not going to be good".But then i saw the theatrical trailer and i changed my mind. Now i was thinking"this movie is maybe gonna be pretty good!". So i was looking for more info and looked and then i came across the Motion Picture Soundtrack that you could hear in AOL. I was curious so i gave it a try. Till that day i wanted to buy the soundtrack because the music was so great that i even imagined myself playing all the instruments.

The music just makes the movie better because you can feel the excitement wherever the visitors or wonka are. For example main titles follows a quiet entrance but then builds up excitement when they show the scenes of when the chocolate is made. Every single day i cant bear to hear this soundtrack.

I was disgusted when i found out the 1971 movie didn't use most of the lyrics of the book in the movie but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has almost all of the lyrics of the book which makes the soundtrack better.

Free Music Review: Mmmmm chocolate!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to say one thing: amazing. This soundtrack is absolutely a delight to listen to. I've seen the movie twice and when I listen to the soundtrack, I can visualize many of the scenes from the movie. To me, that is a benchmark of a good soundtrack. Danny Elfman's orchestrations are wonderful. They are slightly off, but always match the mood of the scenes. If you enjoyed the music from Sleepy Hollow or the Spider-Man movies, you'll definitely enjoy the music from Charlie. Be warned: this music is nothing like the music from original movie. It's darker, and some might say, creepier. My 4-year-old absolutely loves it and I had to copy it to my Media player in order to listen to it, since she takes the CD wherever she goes. The songs for the brats in the movie are, I think, more enjoyable in this movie. If Danny Elfman isn't nominated for some kind of Oscar (song or music) this year, I would be extremely disappointed, and he's not even my favorite composer, either. As a lover of soundtracks, this is definitely one of my favorites from this year. Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Wow!
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the best film soundtracks I've heard in a very very long time. Danny Elfman hits the mark perfectly once again. The best part about this CD are the Oompa Loompa songs, which, in my opinion, are far superior to the 71 songs. Instead of everything being the same song with different lyrics, Elfman implored 4 different types of music to go along with Dahl's original lyrics. Augustus Gloop is a Bollywood showtune with enough glam and spectacle to make you wanna get up and dance. Violet's song is a 80's New Wave/techno song with good use of mechanical/electronic instruments. The best song on the CD, Veruca Salt, is a song very reminisct of the Beatles with its psychadelic use of sitars, violins, and orchestra bells. The kids' songs end with Mike Teavee, a throwback to 80's power metal like KISS. The orchestral music is also excellent, with great use of strings and the Theremine, an electronic instrument frequently heard in sci-fi movies. The use of a vocal chorus is also excellent. Highly recommended for Elfman fans, Burton fans, and fans of oxygen.

Free Music Review: Tim Burton's done it again.
Hit: 5 Stars

Tim Burton has done it again. He amazed and captivated listeners with his score for The Nightmare Before Christmas, and now he's done the same for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Many say that this version will never surpass the first Wonka movie, and that the songs are worse as well. But you have to remember that this was a more modern version of the story, so the music must be modern as well. Instead of a happy go-lucky score like the original, this one has a more creepy techno feel to it. ((Such as the "Main Titles" track)) The movie itself was also magnificantly done, and of course, it couldn't surpass the original. I loved it, ((I own lots of its merchendise XD)) but the original was a classic. Classics can't be replaced.

But I don't think Tim Burton or Danny Elfman were trying to do so. They weren't trying to replace the original, they were trying to do their own version. Instead of comparing the songs and movies, see them as seperate. You'll see then why this soundtrack is so great.
