Free Music Notes for Dark Was the NightFree Music Review: Awesome Compilation Hit: 4 Stars
"Dark Was The Night" is the ultimate in indie rock compilations. Not only does the money go to a great cause, this is a great collection of music for anyone who listens to good music. If you're unfamiliar with some of the artists but well acquainted with others on this double album, then you're in for a treat.
Free Music Review: El Caporal! Hit: 4 Stars
Yes, there is a lot of good music here, and of course some of it is rather underwhelming. But "Lenin" by Arcade Fire was terrific--and "El Caporal" completely mesmerizes. It makes me appreciate anew the musical genius of My Morning Jacket. This compilation is worth the money if only for that song!
Free Music Review: Excellent overall album Hit: 4 Stars
I was made aware of this album by coming across one of the tracks and am certainly pleased with the purchase. All of the artists who contributed are superb and the album overall is very well-produced. If you enjoy these artists independently, I would certainly recommend this album.
Free Music Review: Tons of great bands Hit: 4 Stars
This is a great chill out double disc. It is perfect for a rainy day.. or when you just aren't feeling "peppy". There are tons of great artists. Iron&Wine does a tune called "Die" that is only 1:07 but might be one of the best on the album.
Free Music Review: Hit and Miss Hit: 4 Stars
As with most compilations, this has some great songs and some not to great songs. Highlights for me are Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Yeasayer, and Sufjan Stevens.
