Free Music Notes for Darker My LoveFree Music Review: 5 or more Hit: 5 Stars
Darker My Love is a band that has been hanging in the LA music ghetto for a few years. Now may be their time. There is a lot of excitement around this record. I can tell you that all reports are good so far. This is a band that has recently played with The Fall and The Lyres. But they have transcended any influences. It's mainly psychedelic rock. But then we have the amazing hard-hitting rock of "What's A Mans Paris." The excitement continues with "Helium Heels" and "Post Mortem, Post Boredom." We haven't heard some fresh chord changes in a decade. The revolution has happened. Darker My Love is at the forefront of a new exuberant scene. This will be in mind as they take the stage at Sunset Junction in late August. This street festival is always a milemarker and taste of good things of the past and to come. One day we will all be dead. Darker My Love is one of the great things about being alive at this time.
Free Music Review: Post punk at its best Hit: 5 Stars
When i use the term post punk, I reluctantly use it. I use the term to identify any punk musician's work that straggles away from their traditional hardcore offerings. The 'other' side of hardcore. After splitting eardrums and delighting us with progressive, eerie punk ala Nerve Agents, a few of those punk rockers have pieced together this work of art. They hold no bards employing reverb and drones and ghostly vocals to envoke a new age of 'phsychedellic' rock, the proverbial pheonix that arose from ashes of demolition that punk rock did for them. Darker my love seems to be really 90's rock n roll, alternitive and 'new' rock. Talent runs far and few these days with boys in makeup and tight pants screaming falseto's on the popular radio station, but worry not punk rockers, hippies, indie kids, and rock theologists, becuase talent is here. Think of this as rock with a hangover.
Free Music Review: Brilliant rebirth of the Shoegaze scene Hit: 5 Stars
Darker My Love is awesome. They remind me of early My Bloody Valentine tunes like "You Made Me Realize". Thats about as big a compliment as is heavenly possible.
Its a disservice to this band to lump them in with the LA and San Fran Psychodelic scene just because thats the big underground thing in California now. They are a lot more than that. Buy this record now and play it as loud as you can stand it.
Free Music Review: Psychadelic To It's Very Core Hit: 5 Stars
If you love psychadelic music, stoner rock , or just cool music your gonna love every second of this record. Every track is worth listening to and it's one of the few albums of the year that you'll enjoy listening to more than once all the way through without skipping any tracks.
