Das EFX weren't the biggest hip-hop group to ever come out. Usually, they would be best known for their contribution to the chorus of Ice Cube's "Check Yo Self". However, the style they brought is definitely added a worthwhile twist in hip-hop. Das EFX, a.k.a. Drayz and Skoob Effects, used a ragga-influnced flow at a faster pace, using "iggity" rhyming words to enhance the rhymes. Many artists followed this style, but Das EFX were the craftsmen behind it!
Along the flow they possessed, "Dead Serious" still remains a classic. The beats are definite old-school and the lyrical content even pays tribute to classic cartoons. Every song on this CD flows fluently, and there are no skits to take up any room. Das EFX were too creative and innovative for their own good.
As for any flaws, they are severely minor. Some songs have some curse words edited out and things may get a bit repetitive, but it's nothing to complain about, as "Dead Serious" is always going to remain an early 90's classic.
