I wa a little hesitant buying anything that involves america idol but I'm glad I did. His CD rocks. Great tracks, great ballads. Reminds me of Nickleback.

Wow, wow, and I mean WOW! Was that enough emphasis for you? Now this is ROCK right here! I've never heard ROCK this ROCKIN' before! As a soccer mom with 4 kids between the ages of 1 and 9, I've been around, and I KNOW what ROCK is, and this most certainly IS ROCK! Everyone knows that the best ROCK artists appear on televised talent shows and shill for beverage and automobile companies before they even sign a record deal, and that's what Daughtry represents! I don't think I've driven the point home - this is THE MOST ROCKINEST ROCK that ever ROCKED the ROCK!
What we have are heavy hitting guitar ROCKIN' jams like "Feels Like Tonight" and "What About Now" that ROCK my socks off, hardcore songs like "It's Not Over" that make me want to start a mosh pit in my SUV (I got a ticket the other day while driving to this - the cops in this state just don't know how to ROCK), and fiery death metal blasts like "Home" that cause me to bang my head against the wall! Yes, folks, it's that fierce and ROCKIN' - believe me, because I KNOW. If you've already picked up THE ONLY ROCK ALBUMS that have come out in the past few years, which were all done by Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Bon Jovi, Hinder and Buckcherry, then YOU MUST have this album. Picking up Daughtry's CD is your license to RRRRROOOOOCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!

Back to reality. Daughtry's debut CD is glossy, overproduced, meaningless gobbledygook. A nonsensical word, yes, but one that fittingly describes this artless piece of plastic.
Simplistic everyman lyrics are the order of the day for Daughtry. Witness these couplets from "It's Not Over": "I was blown away / What could I say? / It all seemed to make sense ... We'll blow it away, blow it away / Can we make this something good?" - tremendous mastery of the language by Mr. Daughtry.
Musically, if you've heard Nickelback and 3 Doors Down, you've heard Daughtry. The band offers nothing but the same tired pop/rock that's already been played to death, without bringing anything even remotely new to the table. One gets the feeling that Daughtry simply cobbled together songs from the demos of the other bands - that's how generic this is.
What's more, all the songs on the album sound pretty much the same. There's a few attempts by Daughtry to sound somewhat edgier (think Seether/Three Days Grace "edgy", which isn't saying much), but the vast majority of the album is midtempo pop fluff. Another reason NOT to buy the album? You can hear half of it on the radio, CONSTANTLY!
In summary: More generic, pure commercial product from an American Idol contestant, Daughtry's s/t album merely emulates the popular sounds of today and adds nothing to the mix. It's like some executives went up to Chris Daughtry after he got his deal, handed him some Nickelback and 3 Doors Down CDs, and said "Listen to it, think about it, dream about it, BE about it ... because THIS is what you're going to sound like". If you appreciate music as an art form at all, you want NO part of this album. But if you enjoy whatever the local "Mix" station is playing to death, then one click will pave the road for your personal euphoria.

There are 2 songs out of the whole disk that I don't care for.
Worth the money!
