Free Music Review: Welcome back, Dave!
Hit: 5 Stars

After the horribly disappointing "Everyday" album, it's good to see Dave and co. back at it again. Having listened to the Lillywhite Sessions countless times, I can honestly say I like the more professional sound they added to those songs on this record. Sure, the unfinished sound is amazing in itself, but this record has a fuller, richer sound. OK, so it's not "Crash" by any means, but nonetheless a great album. It seems the band has returned to their old habits of really having fun on their respective instruments, instead of the bland, watered-down sound of "Everyday". The sound here is much more melancholy and low-key, because at the time of the sessions for "The Summer So Far"(the real name of the "Lillywhite Sessions" album), Dave was rather downhearted. It proves to be an interesting sound, and the songs are much, much more introspective, with lyrics much unlike anything ever seen from Dave before. It doesn't sound like the band was trying to make any radio-friendly hits when they made this record, but rather play their hearts and guts out, throwing expectations and criticism to the wind. Only one tiny complaint: where are "Sweet Up and Down", "JTR", and "Monkey Man"? Those were great songs that should have been kept on this record, as it would have made the record a little longer(which would be nice). Besides that, this album is a must-have for any DMB fan, but "Crash", "Under the Table and Dreaming", and "Before These Crowded Streets" might be a little better for newcomers, since they're much happier and more upbeat than this album. Personal fav. song: "Bartender". Keep it up, DMB.

Free Music Review: Another Brilliant Collection
Hit: 5 Stars

"Busted Stuff" by the Dave Matthews Band is only busting one thing, critic's reviews. The bands latest studio album is a great assortment of tunes from one of the greatest jam bands in the world. As usual Dave does not disappoint his fans, he has songs that will quench any DMB fans thirst. If love songs are your thing then "Where Are You Going" is your song. "Where Are You Going" is also apart of the movie soundtrack "Mr. Deeds". If your looking for a more up-tempo and uplifting song then "Bartender", "You Never Know", and "Grey Street" are for you. He even throws a beautiful instrumental song in mix "Kit Kat Jam". My personal favorites would include "Grey Street", "Grace is Gone" and "Big Eyed Fish". "Grace is Gone" is about losing the love of your life and drowning your sorrows in alcohol, "One more drink, could you make it strong cause I, don't need to think she.... Broke my heart my grace is gone. One more drink and I'll be gone". The only negative thing I can think of with this song is that the steel guitar (used for the intro) isn't utilized at all for the rest of the song. "Big Eyed Fish" is a very odd even depressing song. The song cites many situations where animal and human dream to be what they cannot become. This is a glass half-empty song as indicated by the following line "Oh God under the weight of life things seem so much better on the other side". Give this album a try I guarantee that it will have you taping your toes and singing along. The Dave Matthews Band is the greatest jam band in the world. If you are looking for a comparison, the closest to come is Phish (now retired). Dave Matthews is a lyrical and musical genius, he inspires me and many others around the world.

Free Music Review: Review this!
Hit: 5 Stars

So who is exactly reviewing whom here? Let me get this straight, hundreds of people think they are qualified to throw opinions around about Dave's newest album? Personally, I think it should be the other way around. Maybe he should be reviewing all of his fans, pointing out the fact that they did not spent a fraction of the time on their reviews as he did his songs. After all, who is famous here? Us hack music reviewers or Dave Matthews? Who is the one with the talent or lack thereof?

Despite these glaring contradictions, I think most people agree that this new album is great. If you are basing whether or not you will ever listen to this album on my mediocre review, that is a shame. However if you actually are, I feel obligated to persuade you to listen to it, so here is my sales pitch:

I am sure many know about the origin of the album, Lillywhite, and blah blah. The important thing here is that as fans, we all have to accept that Dave Matthews smokes alot of pot. I have heard the stuff pretty much is legal in South Africa where he comes from. It is fairly obvious that Dave was high as a kite when he made that `other' album. If you think it is a good idea to dress in disguise and hug dudes...I dunno what, just stay the hell away from me.

So if you are reading my review to determine if this new album is as good as the old stuff, the answer is YES. The versions of these tunes are rock solid, and in everyway an improvement over the Lillywhite versions. Even if you have had the Lillywhite versions awhile, the additional tracks and the refined studio renditions of the songs make this worth the money. If you have loved everything DMB has ever done except Everyday, this album is for you.

Free Music Review: A DMB Fans Opinion On Busted Stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the third review that I have wrote for this album and the one that I should have wrote in the first place. Let's get to reviewing the Ablum shall we? Yes we shall.

Busted Stuff- A sad but very sexy and relaxing high quality song.

Grey Street- A monumental recording that you are sure to love as long you don't mind the dark or sad elements to the song.

Where Are You Going- A beautiful love song that you are sure to love.

You Never Know- A monumental recording that you are sure to love.

Captain- A very sexy...cool...jazzy...perfect high and lows...high quality song.

Raven- A great song that I believe in the first verse is talking about if you make messes you need to take care of them yourself. Or if you have some dirty buisness to do you must do it yourself. The second verse I believe is talking about how certain people are given truth or knowledge and then corrupt it and manipulate or twist it as the song says so that it benefits them. A couple of specific books are used for that purpose quite often, huh? I only write this as my opinion because I read that some people didn't understand what this song was talking about and this is what I got from it.

Grace Is Gone- A beautiful song that you are sure to love as long as you can handle the sadness.

Kit Kat Jam- Great song! Very upbeat and is an instrumental.

Digging A Ditch- Great song! very thereuptic to listen too.

Big Eyed Fish- A monumental recording that you are sure to love.

Bartender- A monumental recording that you are sure to love.

Hope you buy the album and if by chance you are a Dave Matthews Band fan reading this What's Up! Love is all we need EVERYDAY!

Free Music Review: Hopefully this album will silence some
Hit: 5 Stars

Dave Matthews Band has put out another jem of an album. After a somewhat dissapointing effort in Everyday (though it did eventually grow to where i can enjoy it) they come back with a vengence on Busted Stuff. This album immediately belongs with all of their earlier works. I have had The Lillywhite Sessions almost since it was leaked out and always enjoyed it while also wondering what could've been so when I saw Busted Stuff come out I was intrigued to say the least. The album came out the day before I was supposed to see DMB so I picked it up and so that I would be familiar with the new songs and the reworks of the Lillywhite material. It took one listen to get readjusted to the new versions of some of the tunes (i.e. "Grey Street", and "Raven" with new lyrics, "Captain" with a new groove and so forth). Since then I have practically listened to it at least once a day, "Grey Street" is still one of my favorite DMB songs period but i also love the tone of songs like Raven with its cynical overview. I have always loved Dave's lyrics (as strange as some may be) and this album is no different with such standout tracks as "Grace is Gone", "Grey Street", "Raven", "Big Eyed Fish". Musically the band is tight as usual with Stefan and Carter holding it down as always (Check out the drum groove on "Where are you going" and Stefan's playing on "Captain"). All in all this album is great and hopefully it shuts up those people who said that DMB had lost their touch on Everyday.
