Free Music Review: Amazing Set
Hit: 5 Stars

This is probably my favorite live album to date, and if I had to recommend a live show to someone not familiar with the band it would easily have to be this one or Red Rocks. Some of the staple live songs (Don't Drink the Water is getting a little tiresome, he opened here with Crush and it was a hellva lot better) were there but thankfully it contained a lot of stuff that had not been released yet. Would have loved to hear Grey Street (again) and Grace is Gone (and Pig), but the encore was the best he's done yet. I liked Everyday and enjoyed hearing a lot of the songs from that album as well, even though a lot of fans tend to dog it for its popularity, though I see it as a nice change from what all the longtime fans are used to. I think even non or casual fans could probably buy this and enjoy it for the great concert it is. My only complaint is that the band doesn't release these incredible live albums more often (hell even go overboard like Pearl Jam). I'm eagerly looking forward to next summer's tour.

Free Music Review: one of dave's best
Hit: 5 Stars

The Dave Matthews Band has always been about live concerts, and though it has some great studio albums, its live CD's are the best. This is the 6th live CD that Dave has released and I have to say it is one of my favorite. However, I enjoy all of Dave's CD's, including Everyday and Busted Stuff, of which many people disliked. If you are not a fan of his new music then this is probably not a CD for you, because a little over half of this CD is from those two albums. But I love the new stuff and it has the best songs off of those two CD's. Even if you do not like the new stuff, this CD still has great versions of All Along The Watchtower, Don't Drink The Water, Two Step (my favorite dave song of all time), and Crash Into Me, among others. A must buy for a Dave Matthews Fan, especially one that appriciates all his music. If you are just getting it to own a his CD's, you'll like a few, but like I said, if you enjoyed Busted Stuff, Everyday and all his past work, then this is a CD you have to own.

Free Music Review: Unbelieveable amazing---even better than what I expected
Hit: 5 Stars

I LOVE the DMB, and I am sorry to say that this is the first live album of theirs that I own. I own all of their studio albums however. But anyway, I purchased this album right when it came out, and I listened to it attentively, and I fell in love with it on the first note. It's flawless. DMB is known for their incredible concerts, and luckily they decided to release this one as an album. I have to say, I jealous of anyone who attended this concert---I wish I was there! Every song is distinct, and beautiful. The whole album is filled with hard rock and gorgeous musical elements that make this an experience to listen to. Highlights I found include: "Don't Drink the Water," "JTR," "Angel," and "Warehouse"---but that's not to say that the rest are low-par---every song is incredible and amazing to listen to. There is so much going on, and so much work put into this performance. One of the greatest albums I have ever heard.

Free Music Review: Not one to mince words, but this is the best Dave CD out yet
Hit: 5 Stars

I purchased my Under the Table and Dreaming in 1993, and have been a fan ever since. Much like a great deal of DMB fans, I was thoroughly disappointed with Everyday, and burned my own copy of the "Lillywhites" and pretended that it was actually their newest CD. Busted Stuff completely renewed my faith, and hearing this live CD, I am now positive that the Dave Matthews Band is on an upswing. I actually have every live DMB CD, and Red Rocks was my favorite until this one came along. It can appeal to any neophyte DMB fan, by drawing from its Everyday roots, and still please any old fan because all of the knocks of the Everyday tracks are addressed in this CD. The Everyday songs are longer, more improvisational, and more soulful. Every track sounds tight, and Dave's singing is particularly passionate. I was very disappointed with Live in Chicago, but Folsom Field makes up for it in spades! Get this album!

Thanks to the band for this wonderful collection of songs!

July 11, 2001
The energy of this performance was only matched by the emotion of the crowd. 40,000 people all dancing and singing as one. I don't know that the energy or the emotion can really be captured in a recording--you just had to be there. However, I do know that it was one of those life experiences I will never forget.

I'm not sure why the college thought it necessary to fine the band (this review title) for the extra fifteen minutes (perhaps due to the lengthy rave of "Bartender?") but I'm glad the band has and will always have the appreciation they do for their fans.

Let's here it for the band! Honorable mention to Lillywhite (RIP Ms. MacColl) for collecting the original emotion of a few of these precious gems. The best versions of "The Space Between" and "John The Revelator" live on this recording.
