Free Music Review: The DVD is thrilling

Just want to provide some balance to all the reviews which focus on the frequency of the jump-cuts in the DVD as a negative.
It's true the cuts are very frequent, and if you try to sit through this wishing the edit was more conventional you will certainly get frustrated.
If you don't think about it, however, but just sit back and enjoy the show (having your TV hooked up to a decent sound system is of course mandatory), you might just find this one of the most thrilling concert DVDs you've ever seen.
A great oil painter can capture the feeling of an ocean without actually using water, or night without turning the lights off. Here the videographers have captured the feeling of being at a show without simply filming what you see from the 5th or 15th or 50th row. In fact they capture the spirit of what is happening at a show in every moment by showing the viewer countless perspectives on the action, layered over one another so smoothly that after a while (for this viewer at least) you don't even notice how quickly it's changing.
It's a unique viewing experience. Savor it.

Think what you will of the Dave Matthews Band but they certainly know how to keep their fans satisfied. Just eight months after the release of the lavish Central Park Concert package comes another generous helping of live material, this time in a limited edition three-disc set compiled at the band's 2002 concerts at Washington State's scenic Gorge, one of its favorite venues. With more than three-hours of music and video, recorded in 5.1 audio and shot with over 20 high-definition video cameras, even fans that missed the shows will feel the mosquitoes buzzing around their ears. And it's easy to see why Seattle resident Dave Matthews and his cohorts feel at home here--the natural backdrop provides the perfect setting for their gently inspiring music. "I feel like I'm making a racket in a place that should be quiet," the frontman says at one point in the documentary, which may suggest why this is a more reverential, detail-oriented performance than its Manhattan predecessor, particularly in songs like the acoustic "Gravedigger" and the leisurely 15-minute-plus version of "Lie In Our Graves." --Aidin VaziriPop Music CDs
