Free Music Notes for The Central Park Concert

Free Music Review: Wish I'd been there
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a so-so DMB fan for a while now and was initially turned onto them by their performance of Watchtower on Fox that's circulating the internet. One night a buddy of mine brought the DVD of this over to my house and we watched several of the songs. The one that really sold me was "What You Are". I'd never heard this song before but the emotion and power in this song blew me away. I bought the CDs for this song alone and it was well worth it. The remainder of the concert is fantastic as well with other new favorites including "Grey Street" and especially "Cortez The Killer". Their studio songs are good but this live performance with all of its improv and energy ranks right up there at the top. I recommend the DVD because this really must be seen to fully "get it".

Free Music Review: amazing live sound
Hit: 5 Stars

dmb has done something special on their latest live release. they sound better than ever. when is aw them on sep 11 this yr, they were awesome, the best dmb concert ive seen yet, and when i heard the same songs that they played at my concert on the central park cd, i was so excited. i love the eneding of crush, which is so amazing live, with carters unbelievable drum solo. dancing nancies, which is a great old school dave tune, which has a cool intro about a bartender on cnetral park, and granny, which they played on sep 11 at my concert, and i was surprised to hear them play this, because the last time i heard them play it was on LS, which is also an amazing live album. central park gets all five stars for it incredible jamming and daves fantastic scat singing.

Free Music Review: I wish I could have been 5 Stars

I have been listening to DMB for years and this is the best I have heard of them yet. The version of Jimi Thing is spectactular!! The part near the end where dave starts showing off his talent for scatting was amazing. The band sounded crisp and strong on every beat. Carter has some of his best work available on this album. The guest spot really added another perspective and was remarkable. Warren Haynes is someone I don't think I have ever listened to, but it was a perfect addition to the show. Cortez was fantastic and every electric riff only added to the band. Haynes was able to blend in without taking anything away from the band's chemistry. This is honestly a stellar concert. I would tell everyone you know to buy this album today.

Free Music Review: Not for Republicans .... or the Musically Deaf & Challenged!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is one of my prized possessions. It has all the elements of what makes DMB the band and Dave the musician. The atmosphere is phenomenal and I couldn't help but think about how it might have been to experience this show live. For those Republicans whose CD players don't play this record or those musically challenged folks who think the band is out of tune, please stop wasting precious bandwidth and Amazon's storage disks by writing reviews that are irrelevant and make no sense.

I think I will get the DVD as well to go along with my collection of concerts where I own both the DVD and Audio CD - Rush in Rio, Maiden's Rock in Rio and Dream Theater's Scenes From New York.

Rock on DMB!!

Free Music Review: NOT JUST HO-HUM
Hit: 5 Stars

"Another year, another "live" Dave Matthews CD. Gee-Whez."

Except this time Dave and company were especially on fire. From the beginning with an especially powerful version of "Don't Drink The Water", we are treated to a concert when the band's adrenaline levels must have been at super saturation peaks.

Naturally, of course, not every song on this CD is the best live version Matthews has made available, "Ants Marching" seems rushed and "All Along The Watchtower" is tired. But these are the only defects in an otherwise excellent CD. "Cortez, The Killer" is a well-done romp outside of Matthews own catalog while a generous sample of fans' favorites remind you of why you like Dave Matthews in the first place.
