Free Music Review: Excellent DMB Live Stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

I've seen the band in concert many, many times and this album captures the concert feel very well. If you like this sort of thing, I'd highly reccommend also buying the Central Park concert for the flow from one piece to the next. But don't pass this set by either. Sure, the sound quality's different in this album than the other ones, but that's not a bad thing in this case. It's the end of a long tour and Dave's voice is a little different, but that just makes it sound more real. I love the parts in between songs when Dave talks to the audience. With this one, you get songs previously unreleased live, and the killer DVD is just gravy on the delicious mashed potatoes that is the 2 CDs in this set. The people that've said that the DVD's worth the entire price aren't joking. It's gorgeous. Great film quality, camera work, sound, and ideas. I love the music as well as the stuff about the venue and the band off stage. Whether you're listening to the CDs or watching the DVD, you'll be more than entertained. Buy this one, it's the best 20 bucks you'll spend on music in the past forever.

Free Music Review: Beautiful Music in a Beautiful Setting
Hit: 5 Stars

First off, the DVD that comes with this two CD set is worth the entire price by itself. The DVD will give you live performances of Grey Street, Ants Marching (in multiple angles), Pig, Dancing Nancies, What Would You Say (in multiple angles), Loving Wings into Where Are You Going, Seek Up, Halloween, and an absolutely incredible final performance of Tripping Billies. All this also comes with several documentaries on the Gorge with interviews and feelings from the band, crew, and fans.

The CD set is not the best live release, though with DMB, not the best is still very very good. Many fan favorites on this CD (voted on by Warehouse members) highlighted by a magnificent performance of The Song That Jane Likes and an epic nineteen minute performance of Lie in Our Graves. The two discs include songs from all five of the band's studio albubs and Gravedigger from Matthews' solo album.

Overall, a great item for any huge DMB fan and a good look inside of the band for both the casual fan and the novice.

Free Music Review: NOW I've been to the Gorge!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

It's easy to see why the Gorge is called "heaven's ampitheater." Though I have never been there, the cd's and dvd are more than I need until I manage to catch a show out west. The sound is perfect, and the songs (chosen by the Warehouse members themselves) make for a wonderful compilation of DMB's memorable 3-night stint. Songs like the Song that Jane Likes, Kit Kat Jam, Lie in Our Graves and Gravedigger make the purchase even more worthwhile. And, the dvd is one of the best concert videos out there. The camera work is genious. My only gripe for the cd's is that I wish the songs were seamless, rather than fading in and out each track, but that's just a personal thing. The only thing better than having the compilation is having the complete set of all three shows (which can be purchased from DMB's website - www.dmband.com - for a reasonable price). The band keeps getting better and better, and they sure know how to keep their fans happy! Thanks, DMB for a killer compilation!

Free Music Review: A Definite Must Have
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a huge DMB fan, but don't let this fool you, I wouldn't sugarcoat something for the sake of it, but this is a great little combo package. The DVD is worth the price alone. The two added CD's are a plus. The guys are the greatest jam band ever. Unlike some of the other cd's and dvd's they've put out, the sound is terrific on this one. I love the sound mix on this package. It may not be visually appealing as the Central Park Concert with it's aerial shots of the city and the NY harbor, which I for one thought was stunning, but live at the Gorge captured the band playing at it's peak over a stretch of nights back in September of '02. If you are able to purchase the 6 cd package off of the website, do it. Although a couple of songs are repeated from one night to another on the cd, they are different enough to distinguish them from each other. The sound mix from the board is fantastic. I think this is the best live DMD cd to date.

Free Music Review: Close to the real thing as you can get.
Hit: 5 Stars

As one of the lucky 20,000 attendees of the Friday show captured on this album, I can say with certainty that this set captures the feel of the band's live performance like no other. The sound clarity is crisp and accurate while still capturing the cheers and ambient noise of the crowd, giving it a sense of reality rare in a live concert CD. However, I highly recommend purchasing the full 6 disc set from the band's website as it includes the entire three day concert from beginning to end with all commentary and encores. Although, Dave's notorious 10 minute smoke breaks between songs appear to have been edited out (thank god). This is a set you can throw in the changer, light up sone "incense", close your eyes and really believe you're laying on the grass of the ampitheater overlooking the beautiful landscape and enjoying a world class live concert. Yes Dave, "Heaven's Ampitheater" it truly is.
