Free Music Review: The DVD is thrilling
Hit: 4 Stars

Just want to provide some balance to all the reviews which focus on the frequency of the jump-cuts in the DVD as a negative.

It's true the cuts are very frequent, and if you try to sit through this wishing the edit was more conventional you will certainly get frustrated.

If you don't think about it, however, but just sit back and enjoy the show (having your TV hooked up to a decent sound system is of course mandatory), you might just find this one of the most thrilling concert DVDs you've ever seen.

A great oil painter can capture the feeling of an ocean without actually using water, or night without turning the lights off. Here the videographers have captured the feeling of being at a show without simply filming what you see from the 5th or 15th or 50th row. In fact they capture the spirit of what is happening at a show in every moment by showing the viewer countless perspectives on the action, layered over one another so smoothly that after a while (for this viewer at least) you don't even notice how quickly it's changing.

It's a unique viewing experience. Savor it.

Free Music Review: Great Show in a Beautiful Location
Hit: 4 Stars

Filmed over three nights at the Gorge Ampitheatre in Washington, Dave Matthew's Live at the Gorge is a worthwhile listening and viewing experience. While we do not get any one particular concert in its entirety we do get two CD's of music and a two hour DVD of the weekend's highlights.

The music selection for this package was rather unique in that it was chosen by Matthew's fanclub , the Warehouse, for inclusion and features quite a few selections that had not previously been released live. If one is looking for the entire weekend's shows, I have been told that a six CD package is available on the band's website.

The included DVD features nine performances and a documentary called In the Gorge. Also included is the video montage for Grace Is Gone.

The DVD is recorded in Dolby Surround 5.1 and includes two multi angle songs.

This is a low priced package that gives the buyer about three hours of the band's music. Well worth the price of admission.

Free Music Review: Pleasently Surprised!!!!!
Hit: 4 Stars

Wow, bought this by chance. Havent bought a DMB cd in awhile and saw the great price with a DVD so I had to do it. As a previous reveiwer states that the set list on this is different then others is true. If I had to hear another version of "watchtower" I was going to jump off a tower. (though I love the song)Had to give it 4 stars because I only reserve 5 for truely classic albums. 1st off the DVD is great! Song content is excellent and the sound is fantastic. Great behind the scenes footage. Especially Dave playing Gravedigger out in the lot. The 2 disc CD is some of the best DMB I've heard. Some great versions of some even greater songs. Standouts are:
Gravedigger,Proudest Monkey,Warehouse,The Song Jane Likes,to name a few.
So be like me and be pleasently Suprised.

Free Music Review: Just barely misses as a great album
Hit: 4 Stars

If you are a long time fan of DMB, the 6 CD set available from DMB.com is the better choice, just because of the huge list of songs recorded live. The short version released with the DVD to me just isn't the best album they ever released.

One reason I like the longer version so much better is it captures the essence of a good concert. There are definitely songs in that set that are quickly forgotten because they just don't showcase the band at their best. But few bands ever nail every song of every set of every concert.

If you are a huge DMB fan and can't live without the newest live recording, get the long version.

If you are a casual fan looking for a live album with a different set list (for once) this is a good pick-up.

Free Music Review: Overall, pretty good
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a great album, but I feel that some of the tracks lack the energy that Dave Matthews Band can have when they're at their best. Since "Everyday" was not my favorite album, I was somewhat disappointed to hear a few of the songs from that album on this one. It was nice to have a live recording of "The Song That Jane Likes" since none of their previous live releases include this song. The DVD that comes with this album is awesome. The tracks are great, and the footage of the Gorge Amphitheatre is incredible; it is now my goal to see DMB there one of these days! This is a worthwhile buy for anyone who enjoys Dave Matthews Band.
