Free Music Notes for Weekend On The Rocks [live CD & DVD]Free Music Review: superior live sound quality Hit: 5 Stars
this album has turned out to be a great one. it has excellent crisp sound like you are actually at the concert. highlights for me are "the stone," "time of the season"(great cover song), "#34"(great easy-listener), "steady as we go," "you never know"(one of the better versions i have heard), "stand up," "#41," "stolen away on 55th and 3rd"(awesome song), "smooth rider"(the best version that i have heard), "halloween." the dvd is one of my favorites to listen to and watch. i love the way it was shot. all the tracks on the dvd are great, but the most superior song that never leaves my mind is the performance of "louisiana bayou." robert randolph on the steel guitar is just amazing.
Free Music Review: Incredible - wish there was more! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a DMB obsessive, and this album was a huge addition to my collection. I've been stuck on all the old stuff and haven't really gotten into the new stuff until i bought this one. On the cd's, the highlights for me are Don't Burn the Pig, #41 (one of DMB's all time best!) and Smooth Rider. The entire DVD is brilliant, but the ones that stand out: Dreamgirl, Louisiana Bayou, Recently and Jimi Thing. If a non-DMB fan watches Recently on the DVD and is not a fan afterwards, they have serious issues. The only issue I have is that I wish there was more on the both the CD's and DVD!
Buy it - you won't regret it for a second!
Free Music Review: Excellent live album!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Weekend on the Rocks showcases one of rock's most amazing live acts. All of the tracks are sharp and well produced. This new recording includes a lot of classic DMB and is the first live album to include tracks from their new album "Stand Up" released earlier this year. If you close your eyes, you can imagine being there while Dave, Boyd, LeRoi, Stefan, and Carter are on stage jamming away. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but if it's anything like the DVD from The Gorge (2004), DMB fans will be impressed. So, get a blanket, pack a lunch/dinner, sit out under the stars in an open field and crank it up!

If I could give this more than a 5, I would. This is totally awesome. In addition to the 2 cds there is a DVD that rocks! I especially loved the "Time of the Season", "Smooth Rider and "Recently". There is not a bad track on this cd. What comes across here is the love of the music that this band feels. They are totally enjoying every minute. I love watching Dave's faces and leg spasms - love his dancing. He is my McDreamy! This is their best cd yet.
Free Music Review: top shelf Hit: 5 Stars
a stellar performance by a band that somehow always keeps it interesting and unusual, but consistently good, for their audience. This one features powerful versions of Louisiana Bayou, Halloween and Stand Up (among others) with appearances by very talented guest musicians.
Add to all of this a remarkable contribution to hurricane relief; and you've got an amazing and worthwhile release!
