Free Music Notes for The Man Who Sold the World AlbumFree Music Review: Bowie's Best Hit: 5 StarsIt's a close call with Hunky Dory but this really is his best album and musically superior to all his others. I love it. All the instruments are perfectly proportioned and the musical themes that run through are delightful. This is a true album and not like today's releases that are like a bunch of singles thrown together. The Width of a Circle is just fantastic, taking us through some wonderful chord sequences and transforming halfway through the song. All the Madmen is such a beautiful song and kind of existentialist. The skill of the percussionists is top quality, never becoming too prominent. The Man Who Sold the World is a wonderful song. When Kurt Cobain covered it he was good enough to imitate it and not try to improve it, perhaps as a tribute to the fact that the song couldn't be any better. The percussion gives the song a wonderful texture and is perfectly proportioned. This doesn't really sound anything like anything else Bowie did. It would be hard to follow up this one. One of the most under-rated and under-listened albums in the world.
