Free Music Review: Feelings

Feelings is an experimental rock/pop album by the former Talking Heads singer and is an alright release. Some of the tracks are quite witty like Miss America, Finite=Alright and Burnt By The Sun. The problem is that album is quite uneven and some other tracks are not nearly as good. The booklet has no lyrics, a design that looks like photos of dolls in different poses but for each track we get a list of whom plays what. 3/5.

Three cheers for anyone who skips down roads not taken, but records as eclectic as this one are what keep David Byrne from approaching the level of success he had with the Talking Heads. Most intriguing here are the tracks co-produced with U.K. trip-hoppers Morcheeba, among them "Daddy Go Down," which mixes Asia Minor with Ashley MacIsaac's backwoods fiddle stomp. Meanwhile, Mark Mothersbaugh brings a hint of Devo lunacy to "Wicked Little Doll," while the Luaka Bop Latin touch shows up on "Miss America." --Jeff BatemanAlternative Rock Music CDs
