Free Music Review: Gilmour still in Pink Floyd form

This is the latest and probably the best Gilmour/Floyd disk in years. The addition of a live orchestra in Gdansk is great. There are great versions of "Shine On...", "Comfortably Numb" and an inspired "Take a Breath" live. Maybe the best is what I consider the definitive version of "Echoes." The songs from "On An Island" deserve a fresh look in the live versions. Sadly, this is Rick Wright's last live recorded performance before his death from cancer. If you like Pink Floyd and Dave you'll want this in your collection.Free Music Review: Must have

Amazing concert, I was a little apprehensive about how Echoes could sound
when done live but, after hearing it, it's fantastic.
Anyone who enjoys Gilmour and the music of Pink Floyd will
want this set.
The only disappointment I have is that, when I purchased it about 2 weeks ago, it was $32, it has now been reduced to $27. So much for my timing but it's more then worth it at twice the price.

I was weaned on Pink Floyd but have just come to appreciate how great David Gilmour is as a musician and live performer. This set will leave Floyd fans with a new appreciation of his overall skill set (I know it did for me!). Don't be misled by those that pan On an Island - it is a fantastic album which was introduced to me via this live set. 40 strings + David Gilmour and company = WOW. You can soar like a bird listing to this and the heights will take your breath away. I had goose bumps all over listening to On an Island. It was ethereal bliss. And Where we Start - with 40 strings - and the passion that Gilmour expresses through his guitar is just unmatched by any artist. If your a David Gilmour fan this is great! At first I wasn't sure about the music as it is different from the Pink Floyd that I am used to, but after listening to it a couple of times I can't wait to hear it again. The video shows how great a guitar player Gilmour is. It's amazing to watch him make those strings sing.
