Free Music Notes for Bedtime For DemocracyFree Music Review: Not their best, but still good Hit: 4 Stars
Political, but good humored, crusty punk.
This was my first introduction to the DK's. Many people say that this is their least favorite DK album, but since it was my first, I still love it.
Free Music Review: not the best, but still pretty good Hit: 3 Stars
there have been some reviews that just bash this last album, however it's not that bad. obviously, compared with their previous albums, this final CD does not do the dead kennedys justice. however, it still flows very well and it's enjoyable. this cd has a whole different feel than their previous ones. but then again "fresh fruit" has a different feel as well. for the first time listener, this CD should not be the one you start with, if you want their hits get "give me convenience or give me death" but i'd say "plastic surgery" gives the overall mix of the dead kennedys even if it's not usually a fan's favorite album since it does not contain "california uber alles" nor "holiday in cambodia", but that's what makes it unique. all their cds are unique however.
in conclusion, this wasn't a bad last effort, there's better but this cd is still essential to the collector.
definitely recommended.
Free Music Review: Yay! Hit: 3 Stars
Well I dunno about the remastered version, but my sister got this cd years ago before it was remaster...And man I'd laugh my butt off if this stuff was in dockers commercials!!!hehe But anyways, I don't really have anything to compare this to since this is the ONLY DK record I've listened to, but I *Loved* it!!! Just about the ONLY punk rock I can enjoy besides Rancid. I *Love* the songs "Take this job and shove it" and "Rambozo the clown". But maybe I wouldn't love this album if I'd heard their others before their last. But as far as I'm concerned this album kicks MAJOR A**!!!God Bless ~Amy
Free Music Review: mediocre for d.k. Hit: 3 Stars
out of the entire d.k. catalog, this c.d. is the most forgettable. there are some good songs, but in general the music seems uninspired and lacking of creative ingenuity that d.k. was famous for. BEDTIME FOR DEMOCRACY shows the dead kennedys playing fast but seemingly bland hardcore on half of the songs and playing to their creative strengths on the other half. its a frustrating, hit and miss c.d. coming from a band whose previous albums are revered classics.there are two versions - the alternative tentacles release and the remastered version. buy whichever one you want.
Free Music Review: Good But Not What A Fan Expects From DK Hit: 3 Stars
This album was good, but it doesn't live up the previous releases by the now-defunct Dead Kennedys. The sound is not even really the same and Jello's lyrics aren't up to the standard that he set in his earlier albums. Also, the great artwork (on the inside and outside of the album) that the fans of the Dead Kennedys had grown accustomed to is missing. It is too bad a great band had to make this their last album effort. It would even be an acceptable album, but not from the Dead Kennedys.
