Free Music Review: Not the Death Angel of old, you would think they would have got better

A lot of bands from the 80's glory days of Hair and Thrash metal try to make comebacks. Most of the time it just doesnt work. When you are talking about a ten to twenty year hiatus, that is a long time, plus as musicans as well as the listeners, get older, one fact remains. Are they into the same thing that they were laying down years ago, or are they interested in writing different material? When Death Angel recorder "The Ultra Violence in 1987, they were all under twenty years old. So I am guessing that they are somewhere in their late thirties, for which I was hoping that they would come back with a vengence. I was expecting a combination of Thrash and Death Metal, but what I got instead was really just a hard rock album, with elements of metal thrown in. Saying this, does that make it a bad thing. No, I love rock, and the album is better then half the crap out there today, but I wanted to hear something that was like their older material (of course with some progession) and instead, its just a mediocre rock album. With the style of music they are playing, I really suggest they drop the Death Angel name, because it just doesnt fit with this style of music. Once again, there are some small hints of metal here, which sounds very similar to newer Anthrax, but the rest just doesnt seem to fit. Please preview this before considering buying it. Hell, you might like it alot, and love the change. I happen to like some change, but to build on previous material, not to do a 360. Death Angel might havent done a 360, but they have pulled a 180. Lets see if they can get back to an even zero, and be level again for the next release due next month.
