Free Music Review: I Am Shocked
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, just reading through these reviews is mindboggling for me. Nearly everyone had negative comments about this album. I am a huge DCFC fan, and a Ben Gibbard fan also. I can't possible see how this album can strike people as "weak, dull, boring." Yeah sure, its a bit slow, but in order to appreciate the music you have to look beyond the sound and find the central message the song, or album, is trying to say. 'A Movie Script Ending' is probably my favorite Death Cab song out of all of their albums. I am shocked that there are so many negative reviews on this album. Maybe there is something i am missing, or maybe i have the wrong cd in my Photo Album case, but from what i have heard in each song of this album (which i have listened to numerous times) is magnificent songwriting, well developed sound, and a great listen overall. Everyone needs to listen to this album at least a couple times to get the feel for it, and the meaning of it, so maybe everyone who had a negative response to it skipped through songs and didn't pay attention to the lyrics. This album is incredible, and in my opinion ties Transatlanticism for DCFC's second best album.

Free Music Review: Another Classic
Hit: 5 Stars

I hate it when bands are compared to the Beatles but with three classic albums in 3 years, i think that they're are a fair comparion (not to mention the fact that they got their name off magical mystery tour) Of the first 3 albums, this is probably my least favorite but i still have too look really hard to find any fault with it. This is the Death Cab album of choice for people who want actual hooks as a movie script ending and information travels faster offer up some of the best ones ive ever heard. The lo-fi production from the earlier work is stripped away (for better or worse) to reveal some serious songwriting chops. I was a kaliedescope and styrophome plates are perfect examples of the bands new direction. My favorite part of any Death Cab album is the closer and Debate exposes doubt is one of the most eloquent and densely structured pure pop songs that I've ever heard. True, I don't think that anything could ever top airplanes and we have the facts but i think that this is about as close as anyone could get.

Free Music Review: Lovely
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a newcomer to DCFC, my friend introduced me to them with the song "I was a Kaleidoscope" which I loved, and so The Photo Album was the first CD of theirs I bought. When I first started listening to it, I was a little confused at all the mellow music ("Kaleidoscope" is more upbeat) but it only took about six seconds of listening for me to fall completely in love with this band and this CD. "A Movie Script Ending" is my personal favorite, as is "We Laugh Indoors". The songs are awesome because they're a little bit different than you'd expect - it all feels so emotional and the lyrics are amazing; the music is mellow but fun, and I just love it!!! You should definetely buy this CD because you will love it, too.

The line that's running through my head right now: (From "A Movie Script Ending") 'passing through unconcious states, when i awoke, i was on the highway, highway, highway...'

Free Music Review: I'm speechless
Hit: 5 Stars

Yes...speechless. That is why I am typing not gabbing. Death Cab just keeps getting better with each new album. The Photo Album is their best yet. Yes even better than the the masterful "We have the facts." What makes Ben Gibbard such a great song writer is that his lyrics can make a person experience a wide range of emotions from loneliness and sadness to happiness and hopeful optimism all within the same song.

My favorite tracks:

A Movie Script Ending
Why You's Want to Live Here - Great song...even if Ben disses LA
Blacking Out the Friction
Styrofoam Plates
Coney Island - the most beautiful melody you will ever hear
Debate Exposes Doubt - Perfect closing track

Is it me or does Ben's wails sound alot like Ian Broudie from the Lightening Seeds? But I'm not complaining. So get off your chair and download...I mean buy this album today. You will not be disappointed.

Free Music Review: You people are way too serious!
Hit: 5 Stars

I usually do not listen to music that is this "mellow", and the reason I bought this CD was for one of the more "upbeat" tunes (I Was A Kaleidoscope), but I could not be more pleased with this CD. I listen to it all the time, and NOT to gather some deep meaning from it. Can't we just listen to music without having to think about it so much? I suppose I can't really talk, considering the fact that I'm a new-comer to this band, but I find absolutely NOTHING wrong with this recording. Take it from me, this is a recording that you should own. Stellar tracks include: "We Laugh Indoors", "Why You'd Want To Live Here", "Blacking Out The Friction", "I Was A Kaleidoscope", and "Debate Exposes Doubt". It's all good stuff.
