Free Music Notes for Photo AlbumFree Music Review: There really are no bad songs Hit: 5 Stars
When I bought this album I had never heard anything by DCFC before. I instantly liked it. One of my big pet peeves are albums with 2 good songs, 2 ok songs and 8 bad songs. It makes me feel like I wasted my money buying a whole CD, but The Photo Album has a very good collection of songs. Some are slower, some are faster, some are harder, some are softer; but over all there really isn't a bad song on the whole disk. My personal favorite is 10. debate exposes doubt because of the very clever lyrics and catchy rhythm. 6. Blacking out the friction is also fantastic. Coney island, steadier footing, why you'd want to live here, and styrofoam plates are all good. If you're looking for a CD that you can listen to over and over and only gets better each time, buy The Photo Album.
Free Music Review: A nice, mellow smooth break. Hit: 5 Stars
I had bough Transatlanticism before buying this cd. I loved Transatlanticism a lot, and was ready for Death Cab's earlier tries. I bought this cd, and was a bit shocked. It just didn't sound quite the same for some reason, and I was kind of bugged by that. However, I listened to it more, and it got better and better. I still think Transatlanticism is better, but this cd is amazing in its own right. It's so mellow, so smooth, and relaxing; I don't think anyone could do it better than Death Cab. Even my dad, who's a Bread, Creme, Allman Bros Band, Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin etc. fan likes these guys quite a bit. I think basically anyone can listen to this band easily, because it's some of the most user-friendly music I've ever heard.
Free Music Review: Very good collection of songs Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is obviously one of the catchier DCFC releases. I love this CD. It is the DCFC album I go back to again and again. One of my big complaints are albums with 1 good song, 2 ok songs and 7 bad songs. It makes me feel like I wasted my money buying a whole CD, but The Photo Album has a very good collection of songs. This is the 3rd DCFC Album I own, and it is very good. The music is so amazing. These guys have real talent. DCFC have definately won me over as a long time fan. The melodic pop mixed with deeply emotional lyrics are just what the world needs more of, good no nonsense music. I am looking forward to the next album.
Free Music Review: Short but sweet review Hit: 5 Stars
I'm not going to waste your time with a bunch of pretentious nonsense, but I will tell you that this album is incredible. If you have only heard "Soul Meets Body" off Plans but nothing else, this is a great place to start. I randomly picked this album from the back catalog and was blown away by the material. There really isn't a filler song on the album, but I do admit, sometimes I listen to some songs more than others, depending on my mood. If you get a chance, I recommend listening to "Debate Exposes Doubt" the last track on the album, as it is still my personal favorite Death Cab song.
Free Music Review: More angst than you thought would fit on a CD Hit: 5 Stars
DCFC paint ten pictures, from the quiet and subtle 'Steadier Footing' to the explosive 'We Laugh Indoors'. Like their previous albums, there's an even mix of soft and hard, with some pop in between. What holds it all together is how each song captures the depth of feelings of a situation. The details of the winter break-up in 'I Was A Kaleidoscope' are perfect, the way you remember the scene better than any of what was said. 'Why You'd Want To Live Here' is a perfect vignette about Los Angeles, "as UV rays degrade our youth with time."
