Free Music Notes for AdrenalizeFree Music Review: UNFAIRLY CRITICIZED... Hit: 5 Stars
Only the TRUE Lep fans embraced this album with open arms and an open mind..losing Steve Clark and still being able to make great music was going to be a long, hard road to travel. But, the boys prevailed again (even though Steve was there for most of the writing for the album) it was nothing short of amazing the way Phil Collen "stepped up to the plate" the way he did and played Steve's parts while managing to keep his own sound as well. With Phil and Joe both being quoted as saying their "music is escapism" and all they want to do is "make people happy", they definitely have managed to stick to those ideas. With tracks such as "Let's Get Rocked", "Make Love Like A Man", "I Wanna Touch U", and "Stand Up" you can really just escape into the music and have a lot of fun. Then, to a more serious note, with the track "White Lightning"...the dedication to Steamin' Steve, it's a great song and it really lets you know what Def Leppard is really all about..and if they didn't care so much about each other, their music wouldn't be so much fun! Being one of the very few rock bands to survive from the 80's, and being clumped in with the "glam bands", they have not been given a fair chance. This album was highly underrated and unfairly criticized. I feel I must also share that the track "Personal Property" would have to be my least favorite on the album, but it is still worth listening to. People need to give this album a chance, it really is a GREAT follow up to the albums (that made them the mega-superstars that they are) Pyromania and Hysteria. It certainly still has that famous Def Leppard sound.
Free Music Review: Still a great album, and their first with Mike Shipley! Hit: 5 Stars
I still love "Adrenalize!" Though "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" will always be classics, Def Leppard should be commended for making this album. The rockers like "Let's Get Rocked", "I Wanna Touch You", "Make Love Like A Man", "Heaven Is", "Personal Property" and others are all superb! I still love the song "Tonight." It should have gone to No. 1 instead of No. 62 in the Billboard Hot 100. It's such a nice ballad and Joe Elliott sounds passionate on it. "White Lightning" is still a strong power ballad that builds up its momentum during its 7 minutes. Although I didn't like it at first, I like "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad" now. Took me 20 listens to like it more now. But the album's other strong point is Mike Shipley producing the album. Shipley's direction with the album is superb given the shifting rhythms and turns of the songs. It's a pattern that he has been good at with later albums by Enrique Iglesias, Faith Hill, Andrew W.K., Winger and others. Because of "Adrenalize," I respect Mike Shipley's involvement on albums a lot more. This is still one of the '90s best rock albums and I commend DL for continuing on with its career after losing one of its members, Steve Clark. Steve would have been proud of this album too!
Free Music Review: The Lep's keep on rockin! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the 2nd Leppard album I ever bought, I've owned this CD ever since it came out 10 years ago. Still remains a favorite in my collection. Very rarely do I skip a track when I'm listening to it. I like all tracks, but my fav tracks are 'Let's Get Rocked', 'Have You Ever', 'Tonight', 'Stand Up' and 'Make Love Like A Man'. The other 5 tracks are a close 2nd. 'White Lightning' is an awesome song written by guitarist Phil Collen about the death of his former co-guitarist and friend Steve Clark who died while they were writing songs for this album in '91. That song has some awesome guitar work on it, particularly the guitar solo's that Phil plays. Heck, all of his solo's are great on this album. Phil recorded every guitar part on this entire album, with the exception of bassist Rick Savage playing acoustic on 'Tonight'. Vivian Campbell joined the band right after this album was released. I saw them on this tour in Nov. '92, it was my first concert and I'll never forget it, it was awesome. This album is a little slower in tempo, but still just as catchy and polished as "Hysteria". Joe, Sav, Phil, and Rick continue to be in top form on this one. A great album for any Leppard fan, or a fan of great rock music. If you get the chance to see them live, do it, they're great. If you don't have this album, get it. ROCK ON!
Free Music Review: I LUV this CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I think this album was my first by Def Leppard that I purchased on CD FIRST. I confess I am a fan from way back BEFORE they hit the mainstream with 'Pyromania' and at that time, 'High 'N Dry' was hardly known at all, and in fact only album oriented rock radio stations were playing anything off of it (and that was just 'Bringing On The Heartbreak') and it wasn't until the incredible success of their 3rd album that people began to take notice of a band that had produced 2 OTHER albums FIRST, one of which was arguably their all-time best ('High 'N Dry'). But my wife surprised me with 'Adrenalize' just before we moved. She knew I would be spending a long time alone in my car as we made the drive to our new home, and wanted me to be able to listen to something I would enjoy. I LOVE MY WIFE!! This was a great album by my friends from Sheffield, England. All the obvious songs made it to radio airplay, but a couple of my favorites were left out ('Stand Up Kick Love Into Motion' & 'I Wanna Touch U'). Is 'Adrenalize' their best album to date? I don't think so, but is it worth the price? DEFINITELY!! You just CANNOT call yourself a TRUE Def Leppard fan if you do NOT own this CD.
Free Music Review: My Favorite Of Def Leppard Hit: 5 Stars
I just want to say that I really like "Adrenalize" from Def Leppard. It's a very easy album to listen to. All but 4 songs were released from this album, proving that this album had staying power not to mention, a lot of great songs. "Let's Get Rocked", the albums' first release is just your kick butt, loud rock song, and the video is over the top. Other songs released were "Make Love Like A Man"(in which there's a little rap in the song), "Tonight", "I Wanna Touch You", and by two favorites from this album, "Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad"(which did really well on the charts hitting #9), and "Stand Up(Kick Love Into Motion"(which is probably one of my Def Leppard favorites) I mean I never stopped listening to it back in 1992. The album itself peaked in the top 10 in 1992. I have always liked Def Leppard, and this album is probably the reason why, this is one of those albums that you are glad you have in your collection, and I'm glad it's in mine. This albums' grade in an A-.
