Free Music Notes for High & DryFree Music Review: Crank it up! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the second album I ever got. The first was Pyromania. This album was heavier than Pyromania (it seems as if they started to slow with every album until the got back to the older stuff on Retroactive), but softer than their first album, On Through The Night, but it was definitley better written and played here. Lotsa pounding songs to get your adrenaline up, especially No No No. After listening to albums after this one, it makes me think that guitarist Willis (who was kicked out of the band after this album because of his alcohol and drug abuse) may have been the one behind that. But the success of this album got them on their way and they haven't looked back since.
Free Music Review: Rocking early Lep album Hit: 5 Stars
This album marked the band's first collaboration with "Mutt" Lange. It is a higher quality than their debut album, but it still has a more raw and edgy sound than the follow ups. I love this album just for that reason. When you take away all of the keyboards and synths and multilayered tracks, you still realize that Def Leppard is capable of making some great rock songs. The best is the ballad "Bringing on the Heartbreak," which I can listen to over and over again without being bored. The other heavier songs are great too, and a lot more scaled down, which I love. All in all, this album is awesome and should always be played LOUD!
Free Music Review: a lep fan Hit: 5 Stars
def leppard is probably my favorite band of all time, and i think HighNdry is the album that pretty much defines the band, the album has killer riffs and awesome singing. Don't get me rong i like hysteria and pyromania but highNdry simply kicks more [rear] then all the others. I don't know if it was pete willis's distinctive guitar playing that made the album so great or if it was just the band themselves. Let it go is the opening track on the album and has a killer chorus and guitar solo. I myself always like listening to HighNdry(saturday night) to get me going in the morning. If your a true metal head I suggest you by this album.
Free Music Review: It just rocks Hit: 5 Stars
I like this album because it displays songs that you don't hear everyday, and it also displays a different musical side to the band. However, I don't agree with all of those Def Leppard "fans" who say that they sold out after this. That's b.s. You can't do the same thing forever, and they have expanded their sound to avoid becoming boring. Anyways, the songwriting on the album is great, and Steve Clark lights up the joint with great riffs on "Switch 625", "Let it Go", "(Mirror Mirror) Look Into My Eyes", and numerous others. Overall, a little-known yet wonderful masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Classic Def Leppard at its best. Hit: 5 Stars
Forget about the new junk like "X" or "Slang". What a ridiculous attempt at trying to please thirteen year old girls. This is where Def Leppard got their reputation of writing hot melodies with an uncompromising kick. Many great moments on this one. This, Pyromania and Hysteria are their best albums. The later stuff is marred by the obvious sappy appeal to the "new" radio listener and his/her nebulous mindset towards "art rock". These people are not real fans and will jump ship with the endless eb and flow. Give me a freakin' break, just make some good rock'n roll music, okay?
