Free Music Notes for High & DryFree Music Review: this album is still going strong 28 years later!! Hit: 5 Stars
Hands down the best lep album ever, and the only one i still listen to. There are only 3 of my metal cds that i bother to play anymore, and this is one of them. The others are, the scorpions live vol.1, and motley crue shout at the devil.
I put this on about 3 or 4 times a year, year after year. its great to work out to. but you cant help but weep a little that def leppard wanted to move away from this raw, dirty, energetic little gem.
In fact, if they were to re-record pyromania, and hysteria to match the raw energy of this, id buy them again.
like others have said, every song is a keeper!!
Free Music Review: GREAT CD!!!... Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of their best cd's. Hooking up with Mutt Lange was a great thing for DL. On Through The Night was a great cd also, but they don't sound as experienced as they do on High n' Dry. This is definitely the start of DL. With each album came some changes, but they found a way to get better and better. Even the newer cd's still have a certain amount of the DL sound without Steamin' Steve Clark. They will never loose that edge they had on this cd, it still shows through. I would definitely recommend this cd to anyone who wants to find out what DL is all about. I can't wait to review the next one...Soon!!
Free Music Review: And in the beginning....... Hit: 5 Stars
This was the album that committed my loyalty to DEF LEPPARD. A young girl, laying on my bed, playing and replaying "Bringing on the Heartbreak." I was a teenager with too many crazy hormones and Joe Elliott gave them direction as I thought I "looooveed" some accessible teenager (as Joe of course was not and too old for me or use to be anyway). The music rocks, feels and is real. This also describes the band. True DEF LEPPARD fans must own this CD. While they are all good from beginning to end, this is one of the albums that expresses DEF LEPPARD's soul and ideals as they began there ascent to success.
Free Music Review: Steve Clark-A True Metal God by YODA Hit: 5 Stars
High n Dry is without a doubt, Def Leppard's best and last great album. Steve Clark is absolutely phenomenal! Not only did he have the emotion and technical skills to write brilliant songs,, his soloing is unsurpassed!!! Great examples are "Let it Go", "Mirror, Mirror", Lady Strange", and of course, the hilight of the album, Switch 625. For those who love great lead guitar playing, this one has it all.. Also, the "On through the Night" album is incredible. Pete Willis and Steve clark were the perfect twin guitar team. It's too bad that Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell couldn't fill their shoes.
Free Music Review: Hard rock trend continues Hit: 5 Stars
1981 saw a change in Def Leppard they would be joined by producer Mutt Lange who would also go on to produce pyromania and Hysteria. This is my personal favorite among the early def leppard releases. I have the import cd with 2 extra tracks remixes of bringin on the heartache and me and my wine. This is pure British rock at its finest (goes to show how important both Pete and Steve were) Everything was top notch playing wise and singing was great as well. The main reason I like the album is due to the fact it wasn't overproduced or polished. I would recommend this to any hard rock fan.
