Free Music Notes for HysteriaFree Music Review: Def Leppard's Best !!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favourite Def Leppard album of all-time!! There is no doubt with me..Steve Clark was one of the most talented guitar players ever. His riffs are probably better than anyone's. I think "Women" is an awesome song(and a great video too), and perfect to open for the record. The whole first side contains some of the best songs in rock history..not just in metal! Tunes like "Animal", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Armageddon It" and "Rocket" will have you singing along and throwing your hands in the air. Though a little less hard rock than my other favourite, "Pyromania",the blended pop on "Hysteria" works better than I expected it to. "Gods of War" makes a statement and had me dancing and hitting repeat on the cd player...while "Love and Affection" had me doing the same. :) "Love Bites" is , in my opinion, the best power ballad from the '80's. The title track, "Hysteria", is one of their best, and a total favourite of mine too. The mid-tempo richness, coupled with it's ballad-like sound are perfect. The lyrics on it are very romantic....just like many of Leppard's slower songs. Def Leppard are masters at what they do..and picking up a copy of "Hysteria" is picking up a guarantee for fun and excitement..as well as very well-written and produced songs.
Free Music Review: What's Left To Say? Hit: 5 Stars
"Hysteria" is, quite frankly, one of the greatest rock albums ever created. It doesn't take much to back up this claim. It produced multiple hits which include "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "Rocket," and "Armageddon It." It put Def Leppard on the map in the United States and it crossed multiple genre boundaries with its songs played on hard rock stations, pop stations, and even AC airwaves. People are still talking about this album today. There are very few people walking around who haven't heard of at least one of the songs on this album. They may not know the band's name or even the name of the album, but they do recognize the songs.
If you've never heard this album before, please listen to it. Def Leppard is one of a limited number of bands to crawl out of the late 80's who had a distinctive and easily recognizable sound. Def Leppard was one of the loudest and heaviest of the hair bands AND they managed to crank out some wonderful ballads that have managed to stand the test of time as well.
This particular album includes the aforementioned tunes as well as the wonderful title track, the anthemic "Women," rockers such as "Animal" and "Gods of War," and slower tracks like "Love and Affection." I guarantee you that there is something on this disc for everyone. From raunch to romance, "Hysteria" has all of the bases covered.
Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Def Leppard Proves That Rock 'N' Roll Will Survive Hit: 5 Stars
Def Leppard's Hysteria album is proof of rock 'n' roll's triumph over adversity. When Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident, that didn't stop them. They soldiered on. Three years of hard work finally paid off although the record was slow in selling during the first year of release. But when the hits finally came, they came in a big way. Soon after the release of the album, the band launched its in-the-round arena tour. The five men from Sheffield, England were finally beginning to enjoy the fruits of their labor. With hits like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Love Bites, Armageddon It, Hysteria, Animal, and Rocket, the band was on top of the rock world. The only weak track would be Women, which begins the album. But other than that, the production and engineering on the album is flawless. Def Leppard however did mitigate their heavy metal sound after Pyromania and many true metal fans would complain that Hysteria was wimpy compared with their earlier work. However, when all was said and done, they would emerge as successful as they now appealed to a wider audience. Teenage girls, especially, couldn't get enough of them as they played to sold-out auditoriums. However, Steve Clark began to really hit the skids as his alcoholism really took its toll. He would not live to see the band's fifth record as he died comatose in a gutter from a fatal mixture of alcohol and other drugs.
Free Music Review: A Superb Def Leppard Album For Any Hard Rock Fan! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a must-have for any Hard Rock fan. It has so many awesome songs and many of them were hits in the past. My favorite tracks are 1-7;9-10. This album is a bit softer than 'Pyromania' but not worse; in fact, it is just as good, maybe, maybe better. "Women" is an excellent opening song for the album; I love the instrumental in that song. All of the songs have awesome, varied, instrumentals with great singing by Joe Elliot and not one track is at all similar to any other track except for "Women" and "Rocket".........but that doesn't make it bad. These are two awesome songs in their own ways. Once not too long ago I heard "Armaggedon It" on the radio but I didn't know the name of it. I knew by the sound of it that it was Def Leppard but I was dying to know the name of that song. Then, when I heard it on the album, I said, "Hey, THAT'S the song I heard on the radio but didn't know the name of it!" I'm glad that now I own this album so that I can hear "Armaggedon It" any time I want to! The song "Gods Of War" after "Armaggedon It" is an excellent song to listen to after "Armaggedon It". It's a bit of a strange song, but excellent nonetheless. It's not strange in lyrics (I'm sure people believed in gods of war way back in ancient Greece and ancient Rome), just in the sound of the song.
Free Music Review: Leppard's best by far Hit: 5 Stars
With all of the mishaps, screwups, and just plain bad luck that befell Def Leppard between the end of the "Pyromania" tour in 1984 to the release of this album in late 1987, a lot of people were expecting the band to choke big time with "Hysteria." Not only did they not choke, but "Hysteria" became their best-selling album--and for a very good reason--it's great. This is one of those very rare albums that quite simply does not have a bad track on it. From the pulsing, hypnotic rhythm of the opening track "Women," through the best known songs like "Love Bites", "Animal," "Pour Some Sugar On Me," and "Armeggedon It," to the powerfully arranged "Gods of War," to the fun dance tunes "Don't Shoot Shotgun" (my personal favorite track) and "Excitable", to the flat-out rockers "Rocket" and "Run Riot", to the pretty end track "Love and Affection," every single track is hook-laden to the max (to use an '80's saying). I can't even count how many times I've listened to this record or even how many copies I've owned--I estimate I've gone through five cassettes and three CD's. This is definitely one of my desert island disks. A must for the Leppard fanatic, a must for fans of '80's hard rock--actually, a must for any pop music fan.
