Free Music Review: Best Rock Album Of The 80's & 90's!
Hit: 5 Stars

I recently was driving on a long road trip home and the song "ANIMAL" came on which I haven't heard in ages and I really cranked up the volume. I bought this album back in 1987 when it first came out but somehow started to listen to country about 7 years ago as the "new" rock was not of my liking as it was mostly alternative (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc). I gave this CD to my sister and thought nothing of it. When I heard the Def Leppard song it instantly brought back my attention to this awesome band that has a timeless sound! I went out to buy Hysteria, Adrenalize (another awesome CD!), and Vault, the greatest hits. I couldn't be happier as every song is good on all CD's and I am constantly listening to this and the rest of them. I believe Hysteria is the very best. Out of 100 I would give this album a 97. Great music like this doesn't come across the music store very often. I recommend this album highly for a first Def Leppard album!

Free Music Review: Why do you like this?
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the lowest point of what was a promising heavy metal career. Def Leppard was a great new band when they released "On through the night" in 1980. This is just empty garbage. I know that the drummer lost his arm and it took guts to stay in the band, so the drum machine can be forgiven. The synths however, cannot. Their is no guitar on this album. They have all died and gone to keyboard hell! The lyrics are not even funny! This is the most brainless attempt at cracking the top 40 I've ever heard. Why can't they play heavy metal again? This dosen't even have the heart of hair bands like Ratt or Dokken. How low will Leppard sink before they call it a day? Well...just check out their new album "X" to see what I mean. Now their more then just bubblegum, their trying to be alternative too. Goody. They need to figure out that having a record that's ten times platinum dosen't mean their doing well. Anyone can become record company puppets.

Free Music Review: One of 5 rock album gems of the 80's
Hit: 5 Stars

The other 4 are Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet, Aeromsith's Pump, Whitesnake's self titled album, and Cinderella's Night Songs. Hysteria contains huge mega hits which went on for 3 years.. Rocket, Animal, Love Bites, Armageddon It, Women, Hysteria, and of course the megasmash Pour Some Sugar on Me. Other non-released hits are Gods of War and Love and Affection. Name me any artist today who can have 9 huge hits off of one album!! Might just be why Hysteria sold 16 million copies in the U.S. and over 30 million worldwide!

The bass, vocals, and guitars are all rock anthem standards. The songs really never seem to blend together and all stand apart which adds to this albums greatness. The sound quality is very good, but a remastered album would greatly improve this bad boy to bring it to a perfect status. If you want to know what great 80's rock was about, this and the 4 other albums listed is the base you need to start from. Enjoy!

Free Music Review: This album is awesome!
Hit: 5 Stars

I first got this album when I was in sixth grade. I listened to it so much and I love all the songs (although I still don't know all the words). The music is so addicting. Great guitar and drums and awesome vocals by Joe Elliot. Hysteria one of those albums that you will never tire of! Ten years later and I am still rocking to Def Leppard! Every song is great. "Animal", "Love Bites", "Love and Affection", and "Hysteria" are great relationship songs. Very sweet. "Pour Some Sugar on Me", "Armageddon It", "Rocket", "Gods of War", "Excitable" just make you want to dance and play air guitar and air drums. Very cool. Def Leppard is my favorite rock band! I also have the Euphoria album ("Promises" is so good!). I encourage you to get this album- it will not disappoint! You will love EVERY song and will want to replay them over and over again!

Free Music Review: The Perfect 80's Rock Album
Hit: 5 Stars

This was the first album I ever bought back in 1988. I remember having my dad take me to the music store and him not understanding why they misspelled "deaf" and "leopard" in the band's name. Anyway, I wore this tape out and I am still not tired of listening to it. It's a more radio friendly version of Def Leppard as the harsh guitar tones have been replaced with the smooth effects-laden guitar tones of the mid to late 80's. I really believe Phil Collen had a big impact on the sound of this record. The style of guitar playing is very different from their earlier material.
Of course everyone knows the big hits from this album but really all of the songs are great with maybe the exception of "Excitable". There is another amazing epic in "Gods of War", a great rocker in "Run Riot", and one of the best album closers in "Love and Affection". It's a great mix of hard rock and pop that will never be duplicated.
