Free Music Notes for Retro ActiveFree Music Review: You have to love these guys! Hit: 5 Stars
I have recently listened to most of their material over again and this Is TRULY a GREAT CD!.. You can't always produce a master piece and when you do it somehow is always is expected from that point on. However, Once in a while everything seems to fall in place with the least amount of effort + when you least expect it to . Friends this CD is worth IT!. I can see the progression in their music over the years and how they have tried to replicate "The Past " and try some NEW things with a lot of hit and miss and never WOW'g the fans like in the past. But this is one of their best "solid" album. Cheers! U will Love IT!
Free Music Review: A Worthy Album Hit: 5 Stars
If I hadn't read it here I wouldn't have believed that this was an album of B-sides. If so, this has to be the best album of B-sides that I've ever heard. You must listen to this one if you like Def Leppard. My favorite is Fractured Love. About half the songs, maybe a bit more, are ballads and other laid back fare. I think it has a pretty sophisticated sound. Many of the tracks have acoutics guitars or instruments other than electric guitars, which I think is a nice touch. The album cover is great. One of the few that I actually look at. No skull, it is a clever optical illusion of a woman sitting in front of a mirror.
Free Music Review: Great throwback album Hit: 5 Stars
This was an excellent experiment and throwback to the glory days of their beginnings. Desert Song is a driving and anthemic beginning and Two Steps Behind and Miss You In A Heartbeat are the familiar sounding and up to date ballads. Only After Dark is a funky, kind of bluesy, just plain fun number. Action! is a great song, just straight up fast and hard rock 'n' roll. It's more of the no nonsense Def Leppard from the beginning, just a little bit later in thier careers. It's really good and it's true to their classic style, great addition to a Def Leppard fan's collection or any fan of rock'n' roll for that matter.
Free Music Review: DEFINITELY UNDERRATED Hit: 5 Stars
Gotta agree with the fan from Albany, NY. This album is definitely underrated. Yes we could do without the two versions of "Two Steps Behind" and "Miss You In A Heartbeat." But I gotta tell ya the "Desert Song" and "Ring Of Fire" are excellent bone crushing tunes that kick butt. Euphoria on the other hand,......well, I won't get started on that again. I've already put my two cents in on that one,.....and that's about what it's worth,...two cents. Anyway pick up a copy of Retro Active. It's well worth the money. Too bad it didn't get more exposure on the radio.
Free Music Review: Contains Several Unknown Gems Hit: 5 Stars
I got this album just 6 years ago on cassette while in South Korea. I then got it on cd because I deemed it worthy! Most of these songs are good enough to be on any Lep album. They are much better than anything after Pyromania, although Euphoria has some good tunes. Ring of Fire and Desert Song (great lead) kick ass! Action (Sweet) and She's Too Tough (covered by Helix) rock too. Miss You In A Heartbeat is a good ballad while From The Inside talks about alcoholism (Steve Clark). After Dark is a catchy song. I'm glad to see this album getting good reviews. It's the best thing they put out after Pyromania!
