Free Music Review: WHOLE TRUTH & NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Def Leppard's definitive collection spanning two and a half decades of some of the very best rock music ever. Oh sure the "Nay Sayers" will mumble that Def Leppard didn't stay true to it's roots and sold out opting for a more radio friendly sound that focuses more on sales than the purity of the their rock roots. But I say get over it! I applaud Leppard for their ability to create equally great music whether raw, hard rockin', or melodic and layered with pure genus. This showcases that ability that has led The LEP's through 25 yr.'s of sonic showmanship to be equaled only with the best. Further solidifying their place in history as one of rocks all time greatest bands. This compilation gives us a listen into some of the most brilliant song writing and equally great arrangements. Simple or not, anthemic, or deeply mystifying, whatever! Leppard has done it well, and that popularity over the years is accounted for in their sales of albums and concert tickets. But wait, lest I forget to add that to say they are equal and able to play whatever is out there is one thing, but their greatness even more so is defined in their ability to take music to the next level as pioneers and ground breakers that defined a generation of music that lives on and influences music today. Like em', love em', hate em', one things for certain you can't dismiss them because they are the real deal, always have been and always will be!

Free Music Review: Rock that Never Stops
Hit: 5 Stars

Admittedly, I am only a casual Def Leppard fan. I may change that status now that I've bought this two- CD set. The first disk alone is worth the money. ROA has more good songs on it than many entire box sets from other bands do.

The first disk will definately take you back to the days when music wasn't so polarized -- seems anyone and everyone who could chew bubble gum and bang their mousse-haired heads at the same time was doing so to "Pour Some Sugar on Me". DL is one band that has certainly endured more than their fair share of heartaches during their 25- yr. existence, from having to give their first guitarist the "old Spanish elbow" (as lead singer Joe Elliot put it) because of a near-destructive drinking problem, the drummer losing his arm after a car wreck, to the death of guitarist Steve Clark at such a young age. Still, with an extrordinary boost from Mutt Lange's producing, they have always delivered for anyone who likes catchy rock and roll with a heavy metal twist. One of my favorite songs on here is a cover of Badfinger's "No Matter What". This collection is easily one of the best bargains out there. They apparently put ALL of their good stuff on here, unlike some artists who intentionally leave off one or two good songs so you'll have to pick up that CD seperately. (see John Mellencamp's "The Best I Could Do" -- apparently "Rain on the Scarecrow" wasn't so good according to him!).

Free Music Review: Ten Reasons To Buy Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection
Hit: 5 Stars

1) It's the best compilation that offers 35 of the band's tracks.
2) It gives you an excellent look at their most successful years (1980-1992.)
3) Having "Rock of Ages" will save you the trouble of getting three of their albums "High 'n' Dry" "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" due to the fact that most of the tracks from those albums are here.
4) This compilation is less expensive and better than the two, separate greatest-hits packages from the band.
5) While it consists a very good deal of the albums I mentioned above, it also gives you a good sample of songs from their other albums such as "On Through The Night", "Retro Active" and "Euphoria".
6) It's less expensive than getting both of the other greatest-hits packages.
7) The inside booklet features comments from the band members on each song, plus cool photos and a brief overview of their career.
8) Because this covers their career (though mostly 80-92 like I mentioned) it shows how the band can change their sound but still sound great.
9) The two CDs are packaged in the same case so you don't have to spend extra money as if it was a box set.
10) Def Leppard Rocks!
Overall:
This is a very well put-together compilation of a great rock band. I strongly recommend getting it, it'll be hard to stop listening to it and you'll instantly love it.

Free Music Review: Absolutely Phenominal!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Terrific!!! Sure there is a song or two from each album I'd put on this collection, but you can't have them all. 7 songs are featured from Hysteria, out of the 12, if you want the other 5 get the Hysteria album itself, and stop complaining. I'd put "Me and My Wine" from High'N'Dry, on this compilation, but its ok its not on here. I have the album already, so its no difference. I have all their albums, and even some imports so I have it all, but its pretty sweet to have it all in one compilation for the most part. I'd put like 6 from the Retro Active album, like "I Wanna Be Your Hero", "Desert Song", Fractured Love", "Ride Into the Sun", and the electric version of "Two Steps Behind", because I like it just a tad better then the acoustic version. I like "From the Inside", "Action" also. I think Retro Active is very, very underrated, but I have it of course and can listen anytime I want. I love this collection, and its definately worth it. I love the liner notes seeing what the fellas had to say about all the songs. I would have liked the charting positions around the world for each song, but thats ok. I highly recommend this collection!!! Just as a side note, I'm going to see the Bryan Adams, Def Leppard doubleheader concert this summer. I can't wait!!!
