Free Music Review: Unbelievable indeed!
Hit: 5 Stars

I love every second of this album, not counting the ones in between the tracks. In my opinion, this album reminds me a lot of Bon Jovi's Crush in that it's grown up and contemporary. The first track, Now, gets the album off to a promising start that says "we're Def Leppard for the year 2002". And after that, there's no looking back. Track 2 is Unbelievable and it's a pseudo ballad that will have you singing the chorus the first time you hear it. You're So Beautiful is a good ol' toe tappin' song that just puts a smile on your face. Everyday is up next and continues the tradition of great Lep harmonies. Long Long Way To Go is track #5 and the next single. It's quite honestly one of the tracks that really stands out and if it doesn't get the airplay it deserves, I'll be very disappointed and will begin throwing all sorts of four letter words at MTV, VH1 and rock radio. Speaking of which, the next track is Four Letter Word and it just rocks! I love it even more now that I know the words! Torn To Shreds is up next and it's another great song showcasing Joe's voice and Phil & Viv's guitar work. Track # 8 is Love Don't Lie and sounds like it could have been on the Slang record - which ain't a bad thing! Gravity is next and seems to be the great great great grandson of Rock Of Ages. Track 10 is Cry and it's loud and proud in the vein of Paper Sun, one of Euphoria's better tracks - can't wait to see and hear it live. Girl Like You is up next and is quite catchy - should also be a good track live. Let Me Be The One is probably the #2 ballad on this album (behind Long Long Way To Go) and is another example of the band's impressive voices. That's followed by Scar, which showcases the Lep's heavier side, a la Paper Sun, White Lightning or Gods Of War. I love it!

All in all, I think this is the best album they've done since Hysteria and I can't wait to see them on tour. Come on, radio and television (you know who you are) - play Def Leppard!!!

Free Music Review: X Breakdown
Hit: 5 Stars

It's easy to say that this is their best album since hysteria. X is defninitely better than their 1999 release, Euphoria, and most old-school fans will be happy to know this isn't a repeat of Slang. (However, I have appreciated everything they put out since pyromania, and my comments will probably reflect that)

A breakdown of the album is as follows:

Legend:
R: 1-10 (Heaviness rating)
P: 1-10 (Personal song rating)

1. Now - Their first single from the album. Reminiscient of their album pyromania, except modernized. R:8 P:8

2. Unbelievable - An emotional rock ballad with lots of melody. R:5 P:8

2. You're So Beautiful - Much like the material on Hysteria. R:6 P:9

3. Everyday - More 80's-Like Pop Rock. Very catchy. R:6 P:10

4. Long Long Way to Go - The album's softest ballad. Excellent Leppard Melody. R:3 P:10

5. Four Letter Word - Very much like their earlier stuff (eg. Rock of Ages). The verses sound a bit like AC/DC's Back in Black. R:8 P:5

6. Torn To Shreds - Another emotional rock ballad. Very nice. A lot like the song Hysteria. R:6 P:9

6. Love Don't Lie - Quite popish. Sounds a bit like Euphoria. R:6 P:8

7. Gravity - Leppard Rock mixed with a little more pop and industrial. A bit like the song Slang. R:5 P:8

8. Cry - Pure rock, retrospect of their pre-Hysteria stuff. R:8 P:5

9. Girl Like You - A pop rock story. A little like their Euphoria song 21st Century Sha la la Girl. R:7 P:6

10. Let Me Be The One - Another softer ballad with more leppard harmony. R:4 P:7

11. Scar - Another song that sounds like their older stuff, and also a lot like Euphoria's Day after Day. R:7 P:6

12. Kiss The Day - A great way to close the album. Very classic-leppard. R:7 R:5

Def Leppard did an excellent job on this album. X encompasses the sounds from most of their previous albums and serves as a good representation of how def leppard has changed through the years, and still emerge as one of the worlds best rock bands.

Free Music Review: Well rounded record
Hit: 5 Stars

X blends rock to pop as well as any album I have ever heard. While this is the softest record Def Leppard has ever produced, it still maintains several songs that get you singing along in your car. You're So Beautiful is one of the better rock songs on the album, creatively using the lead singers vocal energy to portray the emotion of the song with a fast pace that reminds you of past Leppard songs like Animal and Photograph. Torn To Shreds is a fresh new song that is calm and simple in the verse and explodes with loud guitars and loud vocals in the chorus. Scar is the last track on the album and a great rocker. The song is about the breakdown of a relationship and the excellent dueling guitar solos sound like they are fighting. Those two solos make the album worth it. Girl Like You is a quick and powerful rocker similar in style to I Wanna Touch You from the Adrenalize album, but Girl Like you is far superior and has a solid guitar solo and ending. And Four Letter Word sounds like it came from the '80's in the style of Leppard and ACDC.

Yes, this is a slower and more pop oriented DL album. But two of the three ballads are fantastic. Let Me Be The One is a great ballad equal to their old hits of Miss You In A Heartbeat, Love Bites, and Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad. Long Long Way To Go is the fifth track on X and arguably the best ballad they have ever recorded. All in all, this album has eight or nine songs that would be hits with more radio support.

X is a great album and the really disappointed folks are die hard fans still wishing Steve Clark and Pete Willis were the guitarists. Its too bad because they really are missing brilliant music when they are so quick to judge. Don't be the same way and take a chance on this album if you are looking for catchy tunes and brilliant musically stylings. I'm glad I did.
