Free Music Review: Yeah! Indeed.
Hit: 5 Stars

Let me start by saying I grew up listening to these guys, literally. I was the only 6 year old girl on the block who had a Def Leppard LP.

After Steve Clark's death, it seemed that the band were starting to go downhill. Adrenalize was ok, Euphoria was alright, Slang was brillant (but largely ignored by fans and critics alike), and then there was X. Let's just forget that ever happened. After that disaster, I was wondering what would become of my Lepps.

When I heard that they were releasing a covers album, I was curious, but skeptical nonetheless, after all, how can one improve on or do justice to the original? I wasn't sure that this was the right thing for them to do, however, I went out on the date of release and bought the Wal-Mart version.

I popped it into my CD player with much anticipation, and listened to it all the way through. I have to say, I love it, and I think it's brilliant.

Phil sounds FANTASTIC on "Stay With Me," and Joe Elliott hasn't sounded this good in years. I actually caught my hubby, who hates them with every fiber of his being (apparently, he's too cool to listen to them), tapping his fingers to the beat several times.

The Lepps did the original artists proud, and they should be proud of this album. YEAH! is what EVERY cover album should be like; true to the original artist, but original enough not to be a rip-off. Brilliantly executed, guys!

Free Music Review: Actually, it's one of their best
Hit: 5 Stars

I have a confession to make: I was wrong about this album. I have always been very skeptical about covers albums. Generally, they tend to be uneven and uninspired collections of songs that don't fit together. Tori Amos' Strange Little Girls had moments of brilliance but the album didn't really work as whole. Same thing with Queensryche's recent release, Take Cover. Duran Duran's Thank You was a disaster. But the Leps did it: they managed to make an album of covers so consistent that it actually plays like a regular album. The song selection is brilliant and the arrangements are carefully done in order to preserve the quality of the original songs while bringing new elements to them. The band manages to make these songs their own, which is not easy when you're dealing with Bowie (Drive in Saturday), T-Rex (20th Century Boy), The Kinks (Waterloo Sunset), The Faces (Stay with Me), Thin Lizzy (Don't Believe a Word), etc. It's also a great pleasure for us, longtime fans, to see these guys come up with an album that's 100% rock'n'roll. After Euphoria and X, I was beginning to lose hope. And from what I've heard from their next studio album, Songs from the Sparkle Lounge, Def Leppard is definitely back on tracks. Long live the Leps!!!!

Free Music Review: A good album of covers, Def Leppardfied
Hit: 5 Stars

An interesting concept that def leppard had They took many songs that were regularly played songs of the 70's, but not the obvious superhits, and covered them in all out Def Leppard fashion. I was intrigued from the cover of "waterloo sunset" on their Best of Release, and the "no matter what" on the US "Rock of Ages" release was also good, and this album delivered the same quality. They picked songs which their sound could really mesh with and enrich, unlike some groups or people have done recently (Ozzy's Under cover album). I would really love to hear another album of originals from the guys, but this album was good enough to tide a fan over. Hopefully, after these few years from the last orignial album X, they can come up with another great one like Euphoria was following the "Slang" change. X was similar to the "Slang" experiment, so if they keep the pattern going, the next new one should rock.

Free Music Review: Reminds Me Something from their best
Hit: 5 Stars

This album, I don't know why, I feel like someone tells me that def leppard's name will shine again.
Maybe because is by far better release from their latest releases like, slang, euphoria, and X.
Everyone that loved their songs from pyromania to adrenalize this one will make him happy.
I think the cover is beautiful and is another reason for a def leppard's fan to buy this album.
Now, returning to the songs, as you can see 2 of them are already released in the their two latest releases, and I mean "Waterloo Sunset" from "Best of" (2004), and their latest single "No Matter what" that was included in "Rock of ages: The Definitive Collection" (2005). I hope at least "No Matter what" will be longer this time!
The other songs are also pretty good, for examble Rock On, Little Bit Of Love, The Golden Age Of Rock 'n' Roll are some of the best from this LP.
