Free Music Notes for Don't ForgetFree Music Review: Great debut album, the songs are never equal and I love that Hit: 5 Stars
My dad bought this for me, I may be young but I'm authorized to make this review :).
I'll review song by song.
1) La La Land: It's a catchy song, I really like it, Demi really expresses herself here and in the video too.
2) Get Back: This song appeared in public 1 month before the CD came out, the music video. I like the song, not my favorite but it's a song that cheers you up, there's a lot of optimism in the music video.
3) Trainwreck: Demi wrote this song alone instead of co-writing it, that's why I love it, it's 100% only her work. It's a song about a crazy love.
4) Party: This song is catchy too, it's really good for the first and last days of Summer. It's good for a party :P.
5) On The Line (ft. Jonas Brothers): This could count as a song written by herself, meaning her own part is written by herself. I like the duet, but without de Jonas Brothers it could be better for me.
6) Don't Forget: It's an awesome song, it was about Demi's father who left her and her family and it like touches your heart. In the video I see Demi's tears, and it really touches your heart as well.
7) Gonna Get Caught: Not a lot to say about this one, I think it's also about a crazy love.
8) Two Worlds Collide: In my opinion, the lyrics are about a kid who doesn't deserve to suffer world disasters. Maybe it has another purpose, but that's my opinion.
9) The Middle: She didn't write this song, but it's excellent even though it's not famous (Idk why, it could have been an awesome success as a single), I love when she says ''I like it, I like it, I like it'' XD.
10) Until You're Mine: This is another song she didn't write, but it's nice. I don't have a lot to say as well, I don't listen to this song very much but I was listening to it today, and I also think it's about a crazy love haha.
11) Believe In Me: The last song in the standard edition is a really good song to close the record, it's like about being yourself instead being something you're not.
I have the standard edition, but I listened to the Deluxe edition bonus tracks and I'll review them too:
12) Behind Enemy Lines: I think if I had the deluxe edition, it would be a really great follow to ''Believe In Me'', like the second part of a story. The song is also catchy, it's like a breakout.
13) Lo Que Soy (This Is Me - Spanish Version): It's time for me to say English is not my native language, and I speak Spanish haha :D. It's not the exact translation of the original song, ''Lo Que Soy'' means ''What I Am'' but it's still good. She looks too serious in the music video, though she smiles at the end and it makes me smile too. The song is cute, it's also a good second to close the record, it was a perfect end for the Deluxe edition, because it's like Demi thanking her fans for letting her be ''what she is''.
So yeah, that's the review. I hope it helps someone, even more coming from a kid :D.
P.S: My favorite song out of all is ''Trainwreck'', as I've mentioned, it's just her own song work without any help.
Don't Forget PosterWith producer Jon Fields at the helm, Demi teamed up with Jonas Brothers to co-write several of the album's 11 songs. It was a natural collaboration, since Demi counts Nick, Joe and Kevin among her best friends. Their inerrant feel for hook-laden rock helped Demi deliver on her vision. "If I were to write the album by myself it would probably have been a little more serious," she notes. "But I didn't want that. I wanted a fun album."
It's hard to imagine anything more musically fun than full-out rockers like "Get Back" and "Gonna Get Caught," both written by Demi with Jonas Brothers. Says Demi, "So many guys cheat and play games. I thought there needed to be a song about a guy getting caught. Nick said, `Can't it have a happy ending?' But I said, `No, no, no!'"
She balances the uptempo tracks with sweeping ballads like "Two Worlds" and "Believe in Me," the latter featuring a message Demi takes seriously. "Being a teenage girl you deal with insecurity," she says. "People think if you're in the spotlight, you're overly confident, but most of us deal with so much criticism, it gets to us. I'm the type of person who wants to take it with a grain of salt."
Demi's vulnerable side comes through on "Until Your Mine" and the title track, a touching ballad (co-written with Jonas Brothers) about a faltering relationship. She explores similar territory in "On the Line," an uptempo duet she co-wrote and sings with Nick Jonas. "We wanted to write a breakup song," Demi says, "and what better way to say it when you're breaking up over the phone than with the title `On the Line.'"
Demi's inner rocker girl comes roaring back on "Party" and "LA LA Land," a droll take on SoCal life and all its attending artifice. Showing her songwriting skills Demi wrote "Trainwreck" all by herself. She wraps the album with "The Middle," a strikingly mature song about finding balance in love and life. Demi Lovato Photos
