Free Music Review: The best CD ever, period.
Hit: 5 Stars

Depeche Mode's music is, in my opinion, the best of all generations because it incorporates synth pop, alternative, Brit, and deep lyric all in one style. This album is a must-have. For those who have never heard dm before, they will be hooked instantly. Even if you have every dm album except this, don't be cheap: buy it. It's more than worth the money. Plus, you can have the best songs all on 2 CDs instead of many. You'll want to listen to the album all the time. As for the songs, enjoy the silence is the best song ever made (EVER), while stripped, strangelove, never let me down again, behind the wheel, personal jesus, policy of truth, world in my eyes, i feel you (god, i can't possibly fit them all) are all magnificent. [Did you notice the newest Gap commercial? It pleases me greatly that dm is remembered so.] 5 stars just isn't enough for this, the best band of all time.

Free Music Review: Simply the best of the best
Hit: 5 Stars

Depeche Mode is not only a synthpop band. It's not only a band of the eighties. It's a classic band. One of the best bands that the history of music has seen.
There may be many comparisions among the electronic bands with Depeche (i.e Pet Shop Boys, New Order ...) , but none of these bands have achieved what these Basildon lads have.
Such status and such devotion deserve respect. And these british genious have this respect.
The singles 86-98 contain a chronological sequence in Depeche Mode's life.
From the cold and dark sounds of "Stripped", to the danceably beat of "Personal Jesus". From the begging "A question of lust" to the patient "It's no good".
Passing through the best techno, to the gospel, to the rock ... The singles 86-98 is a triumph in every definition.

Free Music Review: Great collection
Hit: 5 Stars

This 2 CD compilation is a great introduction into Depeche Mode's work. A band that has existed since the early 80's giving us great electronic music, but always adding new elements (techno, dance, dark, acoustic, straight rock) so as no to be too repetitive. This collection includes 21 tracks, roughly four out of each record in that time span ('Black celebration', 'Music for the masses', 'Violator', 'Songs of faith and devotion' and 'Ultra'), adding also a live track ('Everything counts', from '101'), a track released as a single only in France ('Little 15' from 'Music from the masses') and a new track, 'Only when I lose myself'.

This CD is best accompanied with the 'The singles 81>85' collection. That way, you'll have all of their singles (up to '98) and can really appreciate how the band has matured through the years...

Free Music Review: If you missed the Depeche Mode, it's not too late
Hit: 5 Stars

Even if you never caught the Depeche Mode through the ages, here's your chance to catch up. Infectious rythms, great lyrics, and incredible vocals make the Depeche Mode timeless.

Each time I let someone borrow these CDs, I have to bang their door down to get them back. Every time I play it in the car, people will sing along, and then ask what CD it is.

Everyone knows these songs. Timeless pop classics are just as good as they were on vinyl and tape. The live version of "Everything Counts" is AMAZING.

I missed the Depeche Mode growing up, but when I borrowed my brother's albums, I realized what a terrible mistake that was. I immediately bought the 86>98 collection and the 81>85 collection. You won't be able to get these songs out of your head. Anyone and Everyone will enjoy these two excellent CDs.

Free Music Review: Try to imagine life without Depeche Mode! AAAAAAAARRRGGGHH!
Hit: 5 Stars

This was my first exposure into Depeche Mode aside from occasionally hearing 'Enjoy the Silence' on the radio. I got this as a bargain from a pawnshop a year ago and was instantly addicted. I am at the end of my teenage years and my younger brother and girlfriend just didn't understand my DM addiction at first, but now, they are sorry they missed the recent concert because I have converted them. Reluctantly at first, I set out on an expensive campaign to get all of their material. I am extremely impressed by everything they have done. Tis cd is Depeche Mode for starters, because you will start your collection here! This cd includes better than original mixes of some of their best hits! The new transformations of 'Strangelove', 'In Your Room', and 'Useless', are by far much better! This is a must have!!!
