Free Music Notes for The Singles 86>98Free Music Review: I am the Fly on the Windscreen Hit: 5 Stars
Since 1980, when I accidentally picked up my first DM album, saw them at the Roxy with 5000 other people and bought every maxi single mute/sire records could produce (there were alot of packages), I became addicted to a band whose simple lyrics could only be blown away by complex layered spiritual harmony. Comparing to bands of any time, Depeche Mode has suffered little in down time. Only you, the reader, who hasn't listened to this band, suffers. It's time to pick this album up and live a decade of pure alternative. From the dark to the deep, DM will give you every dime of your entertainment dollar with this collection of a little over 15% of the bands best of music.
Free Music Review: A TRUE compilation of awesome tunes from an awesome band!! Hit: 5 Stars
I actually have the video collection of this so I could see Dave Gahan :) cuz I already have "Violator" & "Songs of Faith & Devotion" on cd. Feel free to get the video collection instead for the same reason. This is a MUST have for anyone who's taped the singles off the radio since junior high (like me) & just need them all in 1. In concert, they stayed pretty true to playing mostly tunes from this compilation. I don't really know what else to say except I just love all these songs, & the new one was different but great as well. This is 1 of my favorite bands in the world, & they better make something new in the near future!!
Free Music Review: If you're going to own any DM album, look no further Hit: 5 Stars
However, I would still recommend other albums, such as "Violator," which contain songs you will not get here. This album is a must-have for anyone who likes DM or likes just a few of their songs. You get most of all the essential songs, plus the bonus "Only when I lose myself." If you're new to DM, hopefully, after listening to this album, you will discover what a truly great band this is and you will go out and buy their other albums. I'm definitely not the longest-running fan of DM, but I've been hooked ever since "Violator." (and if you ever get a chance to see them live - DO IT!!! they are fabulous!).
Free Music Review: The best just got better!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Alright DM fans, this is the one! This is the best of the best DM. Disc 1 with 'Stripped', 'Strangelove', 'Personal Jesus', and 'World in my eyes' (my personal faves) is great. Disc 2 with 'I feel you', 'Walking in my shoes', 'Barrel of a gun', 'It's no good' and 'Useless' it simply does not get any better!!! They remixed some of the older stuff and made it better! I do wish they had put 'Sister of Night' on this however, it is a great CD set. Buy it and leave it in your CD player because it don't get any easier to get all the best DM. I have not taken them out of my car's 10 disc CD changer, and don't plan on doing so.
Free Music Review: Enjoy this compliation of Depeche Mode! Hit: 5 Stars
Being quite the Depeche Mode fan since "Strangelove" (included on this great 2-disc set), the idea of a singles collection didn't sound that appealing to me. In retrospect, it was more than necessary. In the time frame of this collection, Depeche Mode put out some rather incredible music, ranging from great syntheizer tunes ("Strangelove", "Never Let Me Down"), rock infused favorites ("Personal Jesus", "I Feel You"), and even soulful ballads ("Condemnation", "Only When I Lose Myself"). This one's a definite keeper in my CD collection.
