I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this super-talented guitar player and his band. This guy is fantastic with ear-catching chops that are also super-melodic. He's got tremendous feel, probably one of the best guitar players I've ever heard.
The whole album is very listener-friendly, energetic yet easy going. It's bluesy and really funky. Great keyboards too. In fact, the singing, the drumming and everything else here is first rate.

BUY THIS ALBUM IF YOU LIKE GOOD MUSIC. it is the best DTB album to date. Derek is more concise and cohesive with his writing and soloing. Mike mattisons shows his brilliance on almost every track. The producing/mixing of the album is much more professional and creative than his previous albums. The album most importantly flows from beginning to end. Blues, blues and more blues.
If you love the blues(every way of playin them), you'll love this CD. I think it's one of the best blues CDs to come out in a long time. There are a few really rockin' songs on it, too. Exceptional guitar work along with great vocals and musicianship abound on this one. Butch and the brothers should be proud!

A brilliant guitarist with a excellent supporting cast. The entire album flows but doesnt run together and get repetitive, excellent sound quality compared with some earlier DTB recordings. I am looking forward to seeing Derek Trucks with Eric Clapton live in concert, one already a legend, one soon to be oneFree Music Review: This is the Derek I expected!

If you already read the review I wrote for Soul Serenade, don't let it scare you off from buying this one. Hell, even Tiger Woods has a bad game every now and then. On this album you get to hear Derek on his "A" game.
