Free Music Notes for Rebel Kind: The Best of Dino, Desi & Billy

Free Music Review: Unfortunately overlooked !
Hit: 4 Stars

Dino, Desi and Billy was one of those innumerable teen bands of the sixties which produced shimmering teen pop, radio-friendly and a joy to which to listen. Their downfall was their pedigree: Dino Martin, Jr., Desi Arnaz, Jr., and their friend Billy Hinsche, with their famous parents and killer cutesiness were already teenpop fodder whether their music was any good or not. I have always felt that Reprise treated them as a vanity act and threw them away. They most decidedly were not! Their first couple of albums were cover-heavy, tossed together around a couple of singles; but, as their faces grew less prominent on the covers of Tiger Beat and their creative powers were loosed from their handlers, their music became better and better. Later songs such as "If You're Thinkin' What I'm Thinkin", "Two In The Afternoon", "Kitty Doyle", "My What A Shame", "Tell Someone You Love Them", and the great lost collaboration with Brian Wilson "Lady Love" deserved a better fate than obscurity. Every one of these songs should have been a Top 40 hit (and "If You're Thinkin'..." will stay in your head for a long time. What a great, great pop tune!) There was a lot of genuine talent in this band, so grab this CD, sit back and smile. Dino, Desi and Billy had the real stuff!
P.S.: Many, many thanks to Bob Irwin of Sundazed Music for producing this collection. As always, a beautiful job and a class act.

Free Music Review: Finally!
Hit: 5 Stars

A great buy for all DD&B fans around. I always had a hard time getting any of their records, as they were never so well known in Europe. This CD makes up for all that. There's even a couple of songs on it that I hadn't heard of or only read about in teen magazines at the time, and now I can finally hear them. Great stuff - hope to hear more. How about a Best Of - Part II, with songs like "Turn Down Day" and "Pretty Flamingo"?

Free Music Review: Just what I have been waiting for!!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

DD&B were my favorite group when I was a teenager and now I have their "best" on CD! I love the old hits like "I'm A Fool" and "Not the Lovin' Kind" and was delighted to find some recordings on here that I had never heard before (like "Superman" and "Please Don't Fight It"). The last recording I had heard by DD&B was "Tell Someone You Love Them" and thought it was terrific. I was pleased to hear their later releases and I think that "Lady Love" and "A Certain Sound" are some of their best songs. And the pics and info in the booklet are great!!! Sure brought back some fun memories for me. (BTW I sent my book to Desi and he signed it and sent it back!) This is a must CD for any DD&B fan!!!
