Free Music Review: Finally...something interesting!
Hit: 3 Stars

This is a somewhat chaotic release. There is less structure to the individual tracks than on previous releases. In a way, that is a plus. Skinny Puppy and Ohgr have suffered from a lack of surprises in recent years. In the case of DIMD, you get plenty of the thumpy beats you are familiar with, with the added plus of distorted soundscapes and creepy synth melodies. The noisier segments take hold, then it shifts back into Ogre's sing-song type of delivery. Its interesting. I won't give it five stars, because I can foresee that this will have limited time on my iPod, but it certainly deserves 3 or 3.5 stars for moving in the right direction.

I like all this stuff, but its hit or miss. Many of the tracks won't stand the test of time. Ogre could release a "Best of Ogre" CD with RX/Ogre material and it'd be the top release of the year because it would leave the chaff behind. This is a clear indicator that somebody is not doing their job as a Producer. Artists get attached to a sound/melody/track/etc, and sometimes a good Producer is needed to provide a critical opinion.

Free Music Review: Solid but doesn't attract repeated listenings
Hit: 3 Stars

I really dig this album and the experimentation oGre and mark were trying out, and it plays great as a whole album, but as a song for song basis it gets kind of old fast. I don't find myself wanting to go back into it very often which is different from his other material, which I constantly revisit.

Some songs are great. Shhh is a classic from the get go, Pepper is very chill, Whitevan gets stunningly brilliant and Timebomb brings back the lighter mood of the earlier albums.

However some songs are just lame. Eyecandy is way too long and repetetive. D.Angel is a waste of time, Smogharp uninteresting and Witness sounds like a rejected version of Haze.

It's a mixed bag. It was absolutely wonderful to hear ogre sing the whole entire album live, and for an 'album' type of listen it was fun, but I hardly ever pick out a single track to reflect on any longer.

Free Music Review: Strike one
Hit: 2 Stars

I am almost obsessive about my love for oHgr. Their first 2 albums were extremely well thought out, progressive, deep & danceable. I would consider them 2 of the best albums ever made. Unfortunately, this album followed a more repetitive monotone style reminiscent of the Skinny Puppy. I was hoping to hear something awe-inspiring using advanced orchestration techniques that would stick in my head. Maybe on their next album!

Free Music Review: Time to get off the stage
Hit: 2 Stars

After releasing a masterpiece "Mythmaker" with Skinny Puppy, ohGr creates the most embarrassing album to date. It is not new, it is not truly experimental, it is just a sad example of the godfather of industrial getting old.
I think the only good stuff we'll get out of ohGr is if Key is creating an album for him.

Free Music Review: ogre sucking like he did in mythmaker w/bad mixing
Hit: 1 Stars

I do enjoy skinny puppy, and for the most part both of its members other projects. I have the other two ohgr albums, and both are ok the first being better than the second. This album could be tolerable if you could actually hear ogre on most of the songs. That being said it really doesnt matter because he has nothing to say thats worth hearing anyway... Like mythmaker (skinny puppys newest cd) It is almost upsetting to listen to someone that had such a way with words sing these lame phrases. This really is as lame as NIN or Linkin Park. Also Ive heard compairisons being made between this and Too Dark Park wtf, are you kidding me? This Album is awful pick up Too Dark Park instead if you have it then pick up elton johns greatest hits, anything but this.
