Free Music Review: For obsessive fans...these ARE different!

For obsessive fans... At first I thought the three Christmas tunes were the same as the internationally released album; but they are NOT! "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" appears to be the same (but with a less compressed mix and more bass), however...at 1:18 there are a few bars of guitar in the transition that are NOT on the album version! In addition the guitar solo (which starts at 2:35), ends in a completely different phrase (2:59-3:08)! I also can hear that the strings are mixed way down at that transition (3:08) on the album version, compared to the EP version which nearly overpowers her vocal on the line "Through the years..." The version of "Christmas Time Is Here" on the Japanese EP also has her voice mixed very differently than the album version (much deeper in the echo chamber). The version of "Jingle Bells" is a completely different recording altogether. Not only is it 1:06 shorter, but it's just voice and piano, performed in a more laid back lounge manner; whereas the album version is uptempo with a full band and strings. "And I Love Him" is Diana (on vocals and piano) with bass and drums, doing a laconic version of this Beatles standard that only she would create. "Dreamsville" is voice, piano, drums, bass and a string section in a more uptempo arrangement than the other two non-holiday tunes. There's also a very subtle guitar throughout, which you will notice at the start of the piano solo (2:18), and again at the end (3:56 & 4:21). "Soldier in the Rain" is voice, piano and string section in another very mellow mood.
