Free Music Review: Diana Krall - Aliver than ever In Paris!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a refreshing album that has a lot to offer in terms of musical value and quality of performance. Unlike Norah Jones, Diana Krall's talent for improvisation keeps the listener absolutely enthralled and energised for the entire performance, but doesn't neglect musical sensitivity, especially on the 'quieter' tracks.

After hearing this version of "I Love Being Here With You", it's difficult to go back to her earlier (slower) interpretations, but it's worth it! The track only gets better with familiarity. "Maybe You'll Be There" is positively wicked, with nuances that completely change the subtext of the song from earlier recordings, but make it just as good in different ways. "Devil May Care" is breathtaking, with an impressive, sensitive introduction, and then a wonderful upbeat song that will knock your socks off!...

Imagine the technical piano styling of Andre Previn, the hard driving beat of Ramsey Lewis, and the jazz comprehension of Oscar Peterson, joined in one set of hands. Then, imagine the throaty sexuality of Chris Connor, the soul of Billie Holiday, and the styling genius of Ella Fitzgerald pulled together into one voice. Put the two together, and you have Diana Krall - at her best ever in this live recording. The DVD blew me away. Then, I heard the CD and picked up on the tremendous talent that Ms. Krall and her combo present. It's great to watch (even with the body english and facial throes of her guest guitarist), but there is a level of professionalism that gets lost behind the visual splendor and that manefests itself through the audio performance. The excitement that was missing in "The Look of Love" is back. Jazz Lives!!

Free Music Review: Very Enjoyable and that's all that matters...
Hit: 5 Stars

For those reviewers trying to compare Diana Krall to people like Sarah Vaughn... forget it!!! She's not Vladamir Horowitz or the Pope either!!! To give her a low rating based on that is absurd.

This is a very very good Jazz band and Diana Krall swings. She plays well and she does an incredible amount with the voice that the maker gave here. The album is very enjoyable to me and it's a good place to start if you want to hear Diana Krall.

Is she great? That question is so subjective and who cares anyway. One reviewer suggested that calling her great was disrespectful to the great Jazz singers. Popular singers like Diana bring attention to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn and Sinatra etc... People start with Diana and move backward from there... 5 stars from this reviewer!!!

I'm a 14 year old sax player but this is the CD that sits in my CD player (no sax on record - except last studio track). It has this uncanny way of lifting me up. You can just feel the emotion and you hear her maturity. I've always been into "live" recordings because you can hear the musician's ability to "hang" and this one just oozes the "groove"...man, I am a new fan and pray she comes to Texas. My dad plays jazz guitar and I turned him onto Anthony Wilson. Anthony knows how to fit in with the piano (not an easy thing to do) - his licks and comps are so tasteful - just right for this type of music. Diana's touch on the keys is masterful - mainstream with just the right mix of chording and single lines. You can hear her really getting into each note...that's what it's all about! Adam

Free Music Review: Astounding
Hit: 5 Stars

Let it be said that I AM a Diana Krall fan. Of all her albums, this is an essential must-have for anyone who likes jazz or loves Diana Krall. I agree that some of Ms. Krall's albums have been over produced and over orchestrated (namely The Look of Love - what's with all the bossa novas anyway?). But this album is where Ms. Krall shines. I mean REALLY shines! I can't help but tap my foot, sing along and wish to god that I could play piano when I listen to this CD.

It doesn't get any better than "A Case of You", "Maybe You'll Be There" and "I Love Being Here With You". My only wish would be that "Do It Again", "All or Nothing At All" and "I Don't Know Enough About You" had been included on the CD like they had on the DVD... which I also highly recommend.
