Free Music Notes for Quiet NightsFree Music Review: It is indeed a Quiet Night Hit: 5 Stars
This album surely stands out as one of the best Bossa Nova sounds. I love that the tracks have been slowed down for a more intimate and relaxing music. I was so used to bossa nova tempo for being fast and upbeat. This album is as great as other Bossa Nova albums such Rosemary Clooney's "Brazil", Peggy Lee's "Latin ala Lee" and "Ole ala Lee", Doris Day's "Latin for Lovers" and Joannie Sommers' "Softly, the Brazilian Sounds."
This album is a a reminiscent of Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim's Bossa Nova album. I surely love that the song "Too Marvelous for Words" has been arranged into a more soothing tempo. THE TITLE OF THE ALBUM IS "QUIET NIGHTS", IT SURELY FITS IT.
Free Music Review: Romantic, Sultry & Perfect Hit: 5 Stars
An instant favorite album! If you liked The Look of Love, you'll love this. The string arrangements are more of the gorgeous and lush Claus Ogerman magic. Everything he touches becomes transcendent and ethereal. I don't care how many times I've heard these numbers growing up, he makes them anew. Very romantic, mellow and sultry. Diana's voice is intimate and sexy, rraarrrr! I've read the few critical reviews on Amazon and categorically disagree with each point made. It's easy for me to ignore their diatribe. Suffice to say everyone is different. If Diana and Claus teamed up to produced 20 albums like this, I'd order them unheard. Honest, it's that good!
Free Music Review: Pure seduction Hit: 5 Stars
This album is one you can rely on for romance. Lush orchestrations, languid vocals, and tinkling piano keys are what you want to hear late at night when, with a cocktail in hand, you are preparing to seduce that special someone. You won't find vocal or pianistic fireworks here, and this may disappoint some fans, but Krall isn't aiming to distract from the dreamy Brazilian mood she introduces with the first track on this album and maintains until the very end. As always, she adapts herself to the theme at hand. Because this CD is a tribute to the samba, she comes across as a cool drink of water rather than a hot mama. Take a sip. It's intoxicating.
Free Music Review: As the critic's sharpen their poison pens Hit: 5 Stars
This may just be my feeling, but Diane seems to have suffered a critical back lash ever since she married Mr Costello. Heart broken dreamers, those that believe great art can only be produced by the unloved or lonely, I don't know, but the 1 and 2 star reviews seem unfair. This is a Very fine album with some very deft, lush, and lovely covers. Others speak of a breathlessness in Diane's vocals. I found them very warm and appropriate for the mood. Or maybe shes just worn out from chasing after her 2 little boys[lol]. Diane has a rich body of work to look back on, this wonderful record proves shes still looking forward.
Free Music Review: Superb Diana Krall Hit: 5 Stars
I have been a fan of hers for several years and own many of her albums/CD's. This latest: "Quiet Nights" exceeded my expectations and continues to delight me. I enjoy both her singing as well as her piano playing skill. To me, a "wanna-be" pianist who does practice and play a little, when she combines the two I am most delighted and find it exhilirating. To me this was a worthwhile investment. I am hoping to "luck out" and see her someday in person at Yoski's either in Oakland or San Francisco, CA. Our cousins are also fans of hers and are waiting for the same opportunity.
