Free Music Review: A beautiful album
Hit: 5 Stars

Someone once said that Diana Krall's voice is like "smooth honey." That phrase describes it perfectly. Diana Krall has grown artistically since her very first album. She has always been incredible, but now she is even better...she is flawless. Krall's music is elegant, sexy, heartbreaking, romantic, and tender. Her new "The Look of Love" is truly wonderful and timeless. It exudes love which makes this the perfect album for anyone "in love with love." I am so proud to own this collection of fabulous songs. Krall is accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra which transforms her into a mega-jazz singer and not just a torch singer like in her past albums. I must admit that I do miss her piano playing genius, but the marvelous orchestra that surroundes her voice replace any feelings of sentiment. "The Look of Love" arrived at my house just as I needed some comfort due to the tragedy in our country. Diana Krall lifted my heavy heart and made me see love once again. And in this world, we need to be surrounded by love and all of the aesthetics that come with it. This is the album that you have been waiting for, and you will be listening to it for years to come.

Free Music Review: Sex 5 Stars

It sure does. How many guys have bought this album for the cover? How many guys have bought Carly Simon's "Boys in the Trees" or "Hotcakes" for the same reason? Beats me, but certainly some. On the other hand, nobody ever bought an album of Kirsten Flagstad or Eileen Farrell for the jacket photo, and those two ladies had voices far beyond anything Diana or Carly could ever dream of. Point is....

If you bought this album for the sexy photo, and never listened to it, you REALLY shortchanged yourself. Sex may sell one record, but repeat business has to come from artistic merit; I have all of Diana's [and Carly's] records. Carly is sexy, and she can sing; Diana is one of the most beautiful girls on earth, BUT, she's also one of the jazz voices of the ages. The specific songs don't need discussion; their value was settled years ago. Covers, indeed!! Diana was anointed by God to sing this music, and she does it with grace and style that simply have to be heard to be believed.

Buy this for the jacket if you wish, but listen to it. I promise you'll be hooked. Indeed, 'S Wonderful!!!!

Free Music Review: Amazing in Surround
Hit: 5 Stars

It's hard not to be totally engrossed (no, not grossed out) when Diana's smooth voice tackles on the standards with a charm and style that have to be experienced to be appreciated. The technical quality is more than up to the challenge of these fine songs and Diana's treatment of them. The album opens with one of the best renditions of "S'Wonderful" I've ever heard. "I Remember You" was superb, as is the title track. Made me want to write "Love Letters" to her. Stunning! I used the DVD-Audio disc for this review. If you haven't experienced what this format can do for music, run-don't walk- to your nearest stereo shop and have a listen. If you have a DVD player, you can listen in Dolby Digital. The sound, although not up to the true DVD-Audio quality, is still amazing. Al Schmitt did a truly outstanding job on the surround mix. The stereo version, in high resolution 24-bit, 96kHz digital, is also quite wonderful, but it's the surround version that makes you feel like you're in a small, smoky jazz club. You must hear this in surround!

Free Music Review: Luscious music, lush sound, a mood that melts you away
Hit: 5 Stars

After the first listen to this album, I was a goner. It was on a romantic weekend with my wife, and the luxury hotel we stayed at had put the disc in the room, a wise choice for both their business and the guest's contentment. The fluid, sensual flow of Diana's croon sweeps you up, gently massages away thoughts of the hard world of concrete and clocks, melts your anxieties and woes, and lulls you on its gentle, swaying stream of steamy, lush vocal waters into a soft and sultry place in your heart. One classic song after another is made fresh, each one so delicious that at the end you're thinking, "More, I want more." The only possible complaint about this disc is that is finally does come to an end. After the last smooth, lazy note has stopped vibrating in your mind, your next thought is "I hope she has more albums." Luckily, there are some -- and I made sure I got them too. This album is a charmer, a favorite, a "can't-possibly-go-wrong" musical purchase, an enduring pleasure, and a classic in its own right.

Free Music Review: "the look of pure talent...jazz pianist & vocalist ~ Krall"
Hit: 5 Stars

Now that everyone knows what a talent and jazz personified this young artist is to the music industry...every fan has been looking for her newest release ~ "The Look Of Love", and this was well worth the wait.

Entire album is loaded with standards...feel this is going to be another winner for Krall...with songs like ~ "S'WONDERFUL", classic Gershwin tune says it all..."LOVE LETTERS", the haunting Victor Young ballad, that simply stays with you..."CRY ME A RIVER", the Julie London hit from the past, and Diana makes this one her own...but the highlight is the title song "THE LOOK OF LOVE", Burt Bacharach & Hal David classic that gave us so much pleasure before, just listen to Krall's rendition, it's S'Wonderful!

Hats off to ~ Tommy LiPuma (producer), Claus Ogerman (arranger/conductor), London Symphony Orchestra and Verve Music Group...sharing the universal way of communicating ~ MUSIC!
