Free Music Notes for The Look of LoveFree Music Review: Singing Just for Me Hit: 5 StarsI have become so hooked on Diana Krall, simply becase she sings with such emotive warmth, she makes it feel personal,(no, not in a creepy stalker way... in a good way!)and it can make your less than perfect day seem just a little bit better. Album highlights are S'wonderful, Cry me a River, and Besame Mucho, but entire Cd is very good.
The perfect music to unwind or romance to.
Thank you Ms. Krall!
Free Music Review: What can I say...... Diana Krall has the old era magic Hit: 5 StarsAs a jazz fan for many years with most of my heros being from the 40s and 50s, I can say that Diana Krall would compete with the best of them. Head and shoulders above most of the new talent entering the jazz arena today. I say that even though I want to like them, because I want that era of music to continue. Diana just has that old style magic. This CD is just no exception. You cannot go wrong with any of her CDs if you like the play list.
Free Music Review: This CD is my constant companion Hit: 5 StarsI love this CD..it is so sexy and smoky like being in a barely lit bar and just sitting there with your eyes closed and enjoying every note. It has two of my favorites songs, Love Letters and Cry me a River. I fell in love with this CD and it is all I listen to now....Diana Krall is so warm and sultry and makes you feel every touch of the piano. I can't wait for the next wonders of Diana. Thanks Diana for a great and awesome CD. A little history on the song Love Letters, it is from the movie of the same name from 1945 starring Joseph Cotton and Jennifer Jones (great movie). The song and movie were both nominated for an Academy Award. The song was written by Victor Young and lyrics by Edward Heyman. I love the ending notes of this song, it is just beautiful.
Free Music Review: The Look of Love is in her work. Hit: 5 StarsDiana Krall is a talent that enters in upon the human community once in every 100 years. I am fortunate to be alive at the same time. In this collection, she reaches into our psche to wrest control of what we know we are: bodies of emotion and anticipation. I have not heard this kind of musical arrangement since the great Antonio Carlos Jobim conspired with Claus Ogerman to steal our hearts away. Graceful, masterfully delivered, the lady lets us know who is charge of our emotions.
Free Music Review: Surprise! I enjoyed it! Hit: 4 StarsI would never have even considered buying this cd for myself. After all, I am a tenor fanatic, not a sultry jazz fanatic. But the disc was given to me; so I decided to listen to it. Surprise! I enjoyed it!
I especially like how well the vocals and the orchestrations blend together to make the whole interpretation. Orchestrations that make you say "Listen to the orchestrations" are not good orchestrations. But these are a vital part of the entire sound picture.
Before listening, I read the first 30 of the 486 customer reviews, to get an idea of what to expect. I must take issue with the reviewer who faulted Krall for being a "cover artist," simply singing other people's songs and not originals. Please, Paul, we enjoy hearing the familiar again and noting individual stylings.
