Free Music Notes for Surrender (Expanded Edition)Free Music Review: Surrender to this CD! Hit: 5 Stars
I have been waitn for this record on cd for years! I owned the cassette tape when I was younger, which was still many years after the release of this CD, but it is truly a hidden treasure. Its a cd of wonderful soul songs just before Diana made her everlasting mark as a solo pop artist. Just about every Album following this one until the eighties are very pop. So if you want hear Diana really singing check this one out. It includes one of my favorite songs by her "Reach out I'll be there" and one of the few times that Diana sings a vulnable song "All the Befores" She tears through "surrender" and "I cant give back the love" cannot be missed!
Free Music Review: Ross at her best. Hit: 5 Stars
"SURRENDER" A great collection of Diana Ross, after she left the Supremes. Always thought Diana Ross did her best work when she teamed
up with singer\songwriters Ashford & Simpson. The extra versions make it even more worthwhile. For me, all the songs are special,
I was in the Army, stationed at Fort Lewis Washington. As a gift my first "REAL" army boyfriend got tickets to see Diana Ross at
THE CAVE in Vancouver BC. Most of the songs she sang are on this CD. All he could say was WOW!!!Now I know why I Love you.
"SURRENDER" is a great CD for anyone in Love.
Free Music Review: AMONG THE BEST OF HER CAREER Hit: 5 Stars
Simply stated, SURRENDER is one of Miss Ross' best albums of an era of her career when she produced some of her best work. Along with DIANA AND MARVIN, DIANA ROSS ( the black album ), and THE BOSS, this album absolutely stands the test of time. That the lushly produced title song didn't become an enormous hit is a mystery, and her interpretation of REACH OUT, I'LL BE THERE is one of my favorite recordings of all time.
A true classic.
Free Music Review: A Supreme Cd Reissued In Supreme Style Hit: 5 Stars
I have always love the "Surrender" collection. The Marriage of Ashford & Simpson turned out some of the best music 70's Motown had to offer. Now long out of print, "Surrender" returns in grand fashion. Whenever Hippo-select does a Reissue they do it right, with bonus tracks and wonderful Liner notes. A welcome return for an Lp that is a good now as it was in 1972.
Free Music Review: One of my favorite's is now even better! Hit: 5 Stars
"Surrender" has always been one of my favorite Diana Ross LPs. Even though I have this CD from its original release years ago, the sound of this one is much improved, and the extras alone are worth the cost. Especially nice is the previously unreleased track, "Baby I'll Come," for which the music has a bit of a Dionne Warwick sound.
