Free Music Notes for No AngelFree Music Review: Halted World...(My 5 Stars
Dido's debut album ''No Angel'' is one of the best CD's from my collection, It contains a variety of stunning tracks which are beautifully composed, Her voice is so sedative it can cause you to drift off to a comforting dream often. She has a sulky and dreamy voice (almost matching Tracy Thorn's (From Everything But The Girl), Sade's, and a slight reminiscent of Bjork's). My favorite tracks are; Here With Me, All You Want, My Life, Hunter, Honestly Ok, No Angel. The rest are overall good, but those above are in my opinion the best tracks from this album. ''Here With Me'' evokes light trip-hop beats, then transforms into a light alternative rock, including some guitar strings, this song would put you in mind of the group ''Evanescence''. ''All You Want'' also sounds allot like ''Here With Me'' but Dido's vocals are definitely at their best here after track ''My Life''. ''My Life'', probably the slowest (but yet) very moving track, It sounds undeniably like a mixture of Bjork's vocals combined with a passive and slower version of sting's ''Windmills of your Mind'', of course the lyrics are completely different. Her voice is at its highest peak throughout this whole album. This track is very haunting, profound and entrancing. ''Hunter'', WOW...this is absolutely perfect to fall asleep to, seeing as Dido's vocals along with the background music fit in perfectly- it becomes etched in your mind, you will probably find yourself singing to this one more often!. ''Honestly'', Definitely the best trip-hop sounding track, summoning a more pensive and variable description of Annie Lennox's ''Stay By Me'', featuring more of the ambient and tribal sounding effects. ''No Angel'', A mixture of Pop verses R&B, but mostly with more thickset beats unlike the other tracks, this track contains a large amount of pop in it which is comparable to Sting's ''Forget About The Future''. The other tracks are just as satisfying as the rest- except I wasn't so fond of the anthem-sounding ''Slide''. So, If you're a fan of Sade, Everything But The Girl, Bjork, Porthishead, Annie Lennox, Evanescence.....then you'd most likely want to get this CD. because it's highly placed in the same category as those artists.
Free Music Review: A touching album, with lyrics that you can relate to... Hit: 5 Stars
If you've ever lost someone you love, you will be able to relate to quite a few songs on this CD. There are also a few songs about personal issues, depression, etc... I believe that the best songs on this album are:#2 Hunter, which is about how that she wants out of a relationship that has become over bearing and annoying "If you were a king up there on your throne would you be wise enough to let me go? Cause this Queen you think you own wants to be a hunter again." The whole song is great, lyrics, beats, melody...very good. #5 All You Want, which is about her saying goodbye to someone she loved, and how that she wishes that he finds what he's looking for, but wishes that she could be all that he wants. I find that this song runs through my mind, and it doesn't bother me. #8 Slide, anyone who has ever dealt with depression can relate to this song. "Even on a day like this, when you're crawling on the floor. Waiting for the phone to ring, anyone who loves you anymore." The music is original in this song, the lyrics are compassionate, the whole thing makes for a perfect combination. #9 Isobel, is about a friend who disappeared one day. I can relate because that has happened to me, it makes me cry when I listen to it and start thinking. "Dear Isobel, I hope your well and what you've done is right. Oh it's been such hell I wish you well and hope your safe tonight..." I feel every word of this song. And lastly but not least #10 I'm No Angel...which is my anthem. It's saying she may not be "perfect" but she's good enough and she can try to be her best even with her imperfections. "I'm sorry for my weary life...I know I'm not perfect, but I can smile, and I hope that you see this heart behind my tired eyes." So, don't miss out on this album, and don't miss out on her new one "Life For Rent".

After buying this CD, I made one very large mistake: I let my friends listen to it. Now they're told their friends and everyone's trying to get me to loan the thing to them, saying they'll return it "in a little while". But I'm smart enough to know that when you loan a CD this good, you never get it back. One listen, and you're in a total state. There isn't a bad song on here. There isn't even a mediocre one. This is some of the best music I've ever heard. Each track is different, yet they're all "her" somehow. The track most people will listen to first is the one she got known for, "Here With Me," the theme from "Roswell". Though that is a beautiful song, there are many others that should be given a chance. On "Hunter," the rich guitar chords and ethereal background voices play off each other brilliantly. "My Love Has Gone" is an echoey, Irish-folk-music-sounding ballad that will make your heart ache and bring tears to your eyes. "Best Day of My Life" sounds like a catchy, laid-back cross between Jewel and Vitamin C. The title track, "I'm No Angel"'s earthy folk-rock sound and meaningful lyrics make it one to prompt you to hit "repeat" multiple times. On "My Life," she experiments with bluesy piano riffs and a choir, and pulls it off beautifully. But the best track on the CD is "Isobel", a passionate song about a runaway. It has in it some of the best chords, best vocals, best hooks, and best lyrics of any song in history. I can't begin to describe the spell it puts on you. It's utterly amazing. After listening to the CD, I turned on the radio. All the false love songs and "moon-June-soon" rhyming were a pale shadow of what I had just experienced. Who is this girl and where has she been hiding?
Free Music Review: The Voice of an Angel with the Soul of a Rebel Hit: 5 Stars
I'll admit I'm a fanatic when it comes to Roswell, but I've been anticipating this CD since the very first episode way back in September '99. Bits of the theme song, Here with Me, were played at the beginning of every episode, but I got my full satisfaction when the rest of the song was aired when Max & Liz broke up during the season finale. Mistaking her name with Dildo, I obviously got obsene results on amazon.com. Correcting myself, I have bought one of the most influentional, inspirational, complete and satisfactory CDs ever created by the hands of those jolly Irish folks way back in wee Ireland. I was extreamly surprised to learn that no one in Europe has even heard of her, and that she's gaining popularity in the US...isn't it usually the other way around? But anyhoo...her music, which is mostly written by herself and her brother, perfectly describes my past relationship with my first love. She sings of hurtfulness, sin, losing her love, being empty and as she puts it, being unable to go, sleep, breathe or rest. It seems that's she singing about my life, down to every detail. Being a drummer/percussionist, I was way impressed by the drum grooves and programming, mixed in with various instruments, some played by Dido herself. Her voice seems a mixture of Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Chantal Kreviazuk, all who'm are all extreamly talented, but not as much as the debuting songstress, Dido. So wherever you may live, US or UK (I love your country by the way), you're sure to love Dido's voice of pure silk. Make sure to tune into song numbers: #1...Here with Me, #2...All you Want, & #3...Thankyou. And thankyou. PS...would anyone happen to know when the Roswell Soundtrack will be coming out? There's one for Dawson's Creek...so why not Roswell?
Free Music Review: Im in love with this girl Hit: 5 Stars
I first came accross this artist after a reinstall of my os. My browser popped up Microsoft's default home page. I saw link to a music file under the name Dido. Something told me to go ahead and click on it, what the heck. I downloaded Here With Me. I then replayed this track about 3 times a day for a two days, then at least spun it up a few times a week.On my next reinstall I couldnt find this mp3 on the net. It was really frustrating. I searched for awhile and eventually found most of the album, alternate mixes, background volcals from other songs, etc. I listen to this artist alot now. My favorite was Here With Me, but now I am stuck on Afraid to Sleep, a live version. Dido reminds me of when I first found Jewell. I was flipping channels and stuck on her video, she was beautiful and her voice grabbed me. I bought her album right away. After that the music channels and radio stations played her to death and I couldnt listen to the album any more. Well I have even higher hopes for Dido. Her voice has a similarly arresting quality to Jewell. When her voice hits a certain point in a note and breaks the emotion travels straight from her to the listener. However, she is never rough or overwrought. The quality of the lyrics is also top notch, real life situations and laments. Combining these real and moving lyrics with her real and moving voice is a knock out. I want to support this artist, even though I already might have more of Dido's music on my pc, I bought her album today from Amazon. I am excited to bring this music home to my wife and let her in on what has been moving my soul at work for a month now. Recently I found some awesome pics of Dido on the net. She is as beatuiful as she is talented. Cheers!
