Free Music Review: A new singer added to my favorites list Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album blindly. What I mean is I bought it because I'd heard one or two songs on the radio from it that I liked. I do that sometimes-if an artist has two or three songs I like, I usually buy that album because I know the rest of the songs will most likely be just as good. This album is the same. I'd heard "A Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do" and "Come A Little Closer" on the radio and liked them. Then came "Settle For A Slowdown," which became an instant hit for me. I had to try this album, and I'm glad I did. It's a very good album with an equal amount of upbeat songs to ballads. Not to mention the very funny monologues in a few of the songs. Also, another gem on the album that was not released as a single (yet) is the title track, "Modern Day Drifter." It could very possibly be the best song on the album. Buy it, you'll love it.
Free Music Review: Dierks should be around for a long time yet. Hit: 5 Stars
I bought Dierks' 2003 album for my mother. She loved the song "What was I Thinkin'". Well the local radio station started playing "Lot Of Leavin' Left To Do" I was hooked on Dierks. There isn't any thing about "Modern Day Drifter" I don't like. I bought the enhanced version so that's thirteen songs plus a bonus DVD. It was worth the little extra money to have the DVD. My favorite tracks are as follows:
2. Come A Little Closer
4. Settle For A Slowdown
8. So So Long
9. Modern Day Drifter
1. Lot of Leavin' Left To Do
6. Good Things Happen
7. Down On Easy Street
10. Good Man Like Me
5. Domestic Light and Cold
3. Cab of my Truck
12. Domestic Light and Cold - Duet with Cody Canada
13. She Won't Chose Me
11. Gonna Get There Some Day
Free Music Review: At last!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Country music is in a sad state. You either have to sing pop songs with a southern accent (Carrie Underwood, Rascall Flatts) or with southern instruments (Keith Urban) or have some sappy Hallmark ballad(everyone else). While all this is going on some of the best country music is being made without a splash on country radio or CMT (Hank III, Wayne The Train). But thankfully Dierks Bentley is getting played. Finally someone is making true country music about true country things. He's about the only person in the mainstream who don't make me dry heave. If you don't think this is as country as it gets, go listen to some Cowboy Troy and reevaluate your life.
Free Music Review: I love it! Hit: 5 Stars
I didn't really like Dierks when I first heard him on the radio, but he grew on me. I absolutely loved his first CD, and knew I would want to buy his second. Dierks puts so much energy into everything he sings, and the result is really nice. I think my favorite track on the CD is the sensual "Come a Little Closer." The first time I heard it I about melted! There are some other fun songs on there, like Domestic, Light and Cold and Lot of Leavin' Left to Do. My only complaint is that there are only 11 songs on the CD! Even so, the 11 songs are definitely worth what you pay for them.
