Free Music Notes for IdealismFree Music Review: incredible Hit: 5 StarsI'm glad I found Digitalism. It's definitely a more upbeat party-type of electronic music, and I absolutely love it. If you like Daft Punk you'll totally love this. I'm trying to figure out for myself if I actually like it more...
Free Music Review: Addictivism Hit: 4 StarsYeah, I know that isn't a word, but I have German duo Digitalism and their album Idealism in front of me, so I thought I'd just add another -ism to fit in. Anyway, this album is pretty solid.
I don't know why, but when I first heard the name Digitalism, I thought it referred to an underground rapper. At any rate, there are nice danceable tracks like "Jupiter Room", "Zdarlight" (good luck trying to pronounce that) and "The Pulse". And while the cut-up sample of the Cure's "Fire in Cairo" for "Digitalism in Cairo" seems a little lazy, its counterpart "Departure from Cairo" fares much better.
I didn't really care for the opening track "Magnets" either. While I think it's too soon to compare Digitalism to Daft Punk, Idealism is still ideal for fans of house music.

Free Music Review: 2 Mediocre Singles Ceran-Wrapped with Crap Hit: 1 StarsDigitalism is not the child of Daft Punk, because unlike it's supposed sibling, Justice, (who actually achieved greatness with Cross), their songs are a blank canvas with a weak and wavering pulse. Besides "Zdarlight," which falls short of dance-able but moves too quickly for relaxation, and "Pogo," a crunchy rock rhythm overlaid with overly simplistic household beats (made famous by a Pontiac commercial), this album is complete and utter electronic pa-pa-poop. A somewhat clever name and two mediocre singles do not make up for the lack of originality here. The essentials of an electronic rhythm are the beat and snare, add a dash of stale trance synthesizer, and voila!---Digitalism. This is an unfinished piece rushed to market, and I would have prefered waiting another year for something actually worth listening to. I tried to sell this CD to an independant music store, but they offered me only four meager dollars---and I didn't take the money for the same reason people still buy CDs instead of mp3s to this day, because I give a damn about music. Do your audience justice, Digitalism, and re-vamp this God awful digital mess.
Free Music Review: Don't miss this! Hit: 5 StarsPersonally, techno has to be really great in order for me to buy it. After seeing Digitalism's video for 'Pogo' I was hooked right away. The catchy song is impossible to get out of your head. Looking for good beats? Check out the album's first track 'magnets'. The beats pulse in your vanes, driving you to dance. I highly recommend this to any dance/techno fan.
Free Music Review: Brace yourself.. you'll want to bounce to this Hit: 4 StarsWith their debut album Idealism, Digitalism has already crafted a fun and catchy electronic sound with plenty of entertaining beats and delightfully noisy synthesizers reminiscent of the sound pioneered by Daft Punk, and later continued by bands such as Justice. Unlike these other bands, however, Digitalism has a number of tunes on their album featuring non-computerized vocals which often are featured overtop of more disco-oriented beats that are just as danceable and enjoyable as the instrumental pieces. Many of the tunes are playful with fuzzy electronic rhythm sequences and a simple beat to back them, making for an addicting sound which provides for plenty of memorable tracks. Among my favorites were the brief but funky jam "Home Zone", the mystic, eerie track "Jupiter Room", and "Zdarlight" (though I prefer the shorter version). In my opinion, this album has very few flaws and I would rate it four and a half stars. The only improvement I might hope to see in this band as I continue to listen to their future releases is that their style may modify just slightly enough to distinguish their sound even further from their probable Daft Punk influences, yet while keeping their tunes as catchy as ever. I would be interested to see what direction they could take to build even further uniqueness; for me that would only add to their appeal.
