Free Music Review: Why Is This Everyone's Favorite Dire Straits?
Hit: 4 Stars

The Man's Too Strong is actully one of the worst songs I have ever heard, and annoying. Other than that, I think it is pretty
good though I don't get it why everyone likes this record so much. The best songs are So Far Away, Money For Nothing (that track really rocks you), & Walk Of Life. Those are the 3 of the opening songs on the album and they are brilliant and rock. I like Making Movies better, or Green Day even better Warning.
But this is still really great. 4 stars because it contains only 1 bad song.

Free Music Review: Lame Lame Lame
Hit: 1 Stars

I love Dire Straits but this album is really really lame. The only good songs on this are the 3 in the beginning, So Far Away,
Money For Nothing, & Walk Of Life. The rest of the songs after those 3 are really lame. One of the worst songs I have ever heard
is The Man's Too Strong. It is so boring, slow, & no guitar solos. Why Worry just makes you cry and the title track is really boring about war. This is definately not Dire Straits at
their best. One of the worst records ever behind Communique, AC/DC Back in Black, Aerosmith Greatest Hits Oh Yeah!, & Queen
Greatest Hits. This album is also overplayed and overrated just
like the only one they like on radios. I mean why do people like
this so much? Avoid this and go with the other 4 records by Dire
Straits, they are a whole lot better than this. The 3 best records ever were Making Movies, Love Over Gold, & On Every Street. The debut album is not bad at all with great songs like
Sultans of Swing. Stay Away, I know music better than you do
you dumb people. I Rock The World!

Free Music Review: Too 80's for me...
Hit: 2 Stars

The 1980's were a bad decade for music, and this album is a good example of why. I hope you like overly long, overly synth driven tunes that run out of inspiration shortly after they begin, because that's pretty much all you get. In fact, I can only think of two tunes worth salvaging here; Money for Nothing and the Man's Too Strong, which even then don't touch average works by great bands (the Beatles, the Stones, Cream, Led Zeppelin, etc).
A fine example of everything bad about this release is Why Worry, eight-plus minutes of boring...for one, you can barely hear it, but when you can it's fairly uninspired. The same can be said for the title track and especially the opener, So Far Away, which repeats the same line (not to mention measure) for about two minutes in the end, and the title track. I'd avoid it, but that's just me.

Free Music Review: Great, If You Like Heavy Metal
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd it is a classic. I mean this is a must have album if you are a fan to heavy metal. This contains heavy metal anthems like Money for Nothing, & Why Worry. Brothers in Arms is a good song too with great guitar at the end. Every song from So Far Away to Brothers in Arms is good. But I think Love Over Gold is more of their essential CD than this. Every song on it is greatest hits. Go buy this heavy metal album with Love Over Gold because they both sound simular together and is their essential CDs.

Free Music Review: Absolutely fantastic!
Hit: 5 Stars

Now, you may have read reviews that question the greatness of this album. This is not one of them.

At the time of writing this, I own 7 versions of this album. 2 LP's (different distributers), 1 Cassette, the original CD release, the Remaster cd release, JVC's XRCD release, and the latest 20th Anniversary Edition (2 sided disc, cd and 5.1 DVD). I first remember hearing the Cassette around 1987 (5 years old), when I couldn't help but love the tunes So Far Away, Money for Nothing and Walk of Life. It wasn't for another 5 years that I obtained the original CD release. Even in the little boombox that I had, I loved to listen to those first 3 songs. I'd listen to the rest, but I wasn't much into it.

It wasn't until I built an audio system that I came to appreciate the beauty of the album. I knew it was recorded well, but when played through a good system, it really shined. My current setup is a Pioneer VSX-D412 (Amp), Samsung DVD-HD841 (Player), 2 JBL N28II (Front Channel), 2 JBL N26II (Rear Channel), 1 JBL S-CENTER II (Center Channel) and 1 JBL PB12 (Subwoofer). I play all my Stereo in 2.1 (Front and Sub).

I can listen to this album repeating and never get bored of it. Not only is the music great, it completely changes when listened through a proper system. You get swallowed by the music. Nothing like turning out the lights, closing my eyes and just listen to the entire album. You go through every emotion throughout the album, from excitement to loneliness to hopeful to sadness and to inspiration. When this album is over, I feel purged, like a new person almost.

Dire Straits in NOT my favorite band, but this is by far, my favorite album. A step above (but similar to in many respects) The Moody Blues: Days of Our Future Passed.
