If I were given the choice of having one disk to take to a deserted island, Dire Straits' Love Over Gold would be my pick. The dynamics of this production are only equaled by works of a classical nature. The album moves from the subtle nuances of the title cut to the bombastic final stanza of Telegraph Road. It is one Hell of a good ride!!! While all the Grammies went to Brothers In Arms, Mark Knofler and Dire Straits really hit their artistic peak with this album. This music represents the apex of Mr. Knofler's skills as a musician and lauded guitar god. Unfortunatley, his recent fascination with Nashville and becoming the next Chet Atkins leads me to believe that the strength of this effort will never be matched! ENJOY!
