Free Music Notes for Making MoviesFree Music Review: Zzzzzzzzzzzzz..........BORING Hit: 1 StarsMaking movies is such a bore.I fell of to sleep just after the second song.Dire straits are very overrated as they produced only one good song in SULTANS OF SWING.Rest of their albums are boring.Avoid this BOREFEST and buy STICKY FINGERS from THE ROLLING STONES instead.
Free Music Review: A highly overrated album Hit: 1 StarsMaking movies is one of the worst albums from dire straits. They made only three decent albums in their debut, love over gold and brothers in arms.EXPRESSO LOVE HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST DUMB SONGS I HAVE EVER HEARD.Dont listen to the reviewers who recommend this awful album.Get A bigger bang from the rolling stones instead.
Free Music Review: A Classic Hit: 5 StarsMaking Movies is Dire Straits' third album.
Well this album has four of the classics such as Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet, Skateaway, and Espresso Love. Hand in Hands ok
but overrall weaker than the rest of the songs on the album. Les Boys is the only song that a lot of people don't like. It's actully a pretty good song but it dosen't seem to rank the best song by Dire Straits. Anyway, this was a great 3rd album from
one of my all time favorite bands. Mark's older stuff ROCKS!!!
Free Music Review: Solid Rock Hit: 5 StarsOne of the things that made Dire Straits such a great band (and continue to define Mark Knopfler) is that each of their albums was distinct from the others yet each is instantly recognizable as a DS / MK work. There is an evident evolution to their albums, starting from the stripped-down four-member sound of the debut album, to the country-tinged (and still stripped down) essence of "Communique". This album marked a turning point for the group, as it expanded the sound of the group and the complexity of the arrangements of the songs, and served as a springboard to the production pieces that followed - in particular, "Love Over Gold" and "Brothers in Arms". It's comparable to what "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" represent in the Beatles' catalogue.
In my view, this album has the best group of songs of any DS album, and certainly the best lyrics. Of the seven songs on this album, at least five are classics (I'd leave off "Les Boys" and "Hand in Hand"). Many DS albums have unforgettable music, and maybe the guitarwork on the debut album and "Love Over Gold" is more spectacular. But "Making Movies" is the one that provides the most vivid images - the amusement park motif of "Tunnel of Love", the romance of "Romeo and Juliet", the carefree rollergirl on "Skateaway", the overheated excitement of "Expresso Love". The songs would be great even without the guitarwork, which is of course brilliant.
I go back and forth between this album, the debut album and "Love Over Gold" as to which is the best DS album. In the end, I think you need all three.
Free Music Review: The Greatest Band of All Time Hit: 5 StarsDire Straits are the most talented band of all time, and maybe
my favorite band of all time. They make great music. [...] Let's go to how lovely and great this CD is. This CD is one of my favorites of all time,
and what I think about this album is that I think Mark Knopfler
does Tunnel of Love very well and it is one of my favorite and top songs of all time. It's kind of a song you have to play anywhere and play it over and over and over again. Romeo and Juliet is a classic too, i love the lyrics in that one. And then I love Espresso Love which is probably the second best one on the album and I think Knopfler does that one really well. Buy all Dire Straits albums[...]. Dire Straits are just as talented as Green Day, & Guns N Roses.
