Free Music Notes for Sultans of Swing - Very Best ofFree Music Review: Almost perfect Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great album. I'm very glad that they included "Lady Writer" on this compilation, but I'm a bit upset that this was the only song from "Communique," their best studio album. The album "On Every Street" is a bit over-represented, as is "Brothers in Arms." The song "Telegraph Road" was left off I'm assuming because of CD length constraints, but that's no reason to only have the edited version of the song "Brothers in Arms." However, the live versions of "Your Latest Trick" and "Love Over Gold" complement the rest of the album very nicely. Ending it with the "Wild Theme" is a great touch - you must enjoy this song. Overall, it's a very good album, but the time constaints made for some unfortunate editing descisions.
Free Music Review: Great, But Better Together With Love Over Gold Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great album, though there are 2 reasons you shouldn't
buy this album. There are missing too many songs, plus bad edits
of songs such as favorites like "Money for Nothing". Everyone's
favorite song is "Sultans of Swing" which is better live. My
favorite song on this compilation is "Tunnel of Love". The live
songs like "Your Latest Trick", & "Love over Gold are alright
but the studio versions are better. This CD goes better toghther
with Love over Gold because of "Telegraph Road" and other big
hits. Why does this go better together with Brothers in Arms?
Brothers in Arms is a great CD but overrated!!!!! The only CDs
I see in stores are either this, Brothers in Arms, or their debut
album. What's the point? Anyway, great CD. BUY IT!!!
Free Music Review: One of the Best Classic Rock CDs Hit: 5 Stars
This CD has all my favorite classic songs by Dire Straits on it. It's my number one CD to listen to during my one hour commute to work in my Nissan Maxima, which by the way only has a factory CD/Radio in it; however this CD makes it sound like a McIntosh. Some of the songs are recorded in the studio and some recorded live in concert. The sound on the live recordings immerses me into the moment, as if I were sitting in the stadium during the concert. The lead guitarist is simply one of the best. Stereo imaging is the best I've ever heard in my car. The CD's output is quite high, so I have to turn the volume down a bit before I play the CD or it will wake up the neighborhood. I highly recommend this CD and it merits being a "must have" for the Classic Rock fans like myself.
Free Music Review: Convinced me ... Hit: 5 Stars
Well im not a big fan of Dire Straits... Just wanted to know the real score about the band. When I was still in the elementary grades, if im not mistaken.. Grade Three. My cousin used to sing "Money for Nothing" over and over again...I never really liked it because i was hooked into "Songs from The Big Chair". So I asked him... what on earth are u singin...told me its a Dire Straits song...Well ok.. But i didnt buy "Brothers In Arms"..So the years went by and I heard another single, this time its my boss who is playing it.."So Far Away" was the title..
told him that its a boring song... But now i ended up buying this cd... well , its a nice headstart for me to know more about Dire Straits ... Mark Knopfler reminds me of Lou Reed...cool album...
Free Music Review: The Very Best of Dire Straits Features a Premier Band That is Consistently On Top Hit: 5 Stars
Sultans of Swing is one of those noteworthy pieces of Rock and Roll history that the listener can identify immediately upon hearing the first three notes, sort of what you have with the Stones "Satisfaction" or Hendrix "Purple Haze". The song is the insignia of Mark Knopfler who along with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, enters the stage as a gonzo guitarist and musical magician.Add songs like Tunnel of Love and So Far Away which also highlight the band's versatility and unique delivery and you have the trappings of a first class rock and roll dynasty with Knopfler as the signature element. Buy this CD for excellence and necessary inclusion to any collection that needs to be complete and reflective of solid rock and roll performance.
