Free Music Review: Surprising!
Hit: 5 Stars

I avoid Disney because they usually throw enough "sweetness" at a person to give them diabetes! Having heard two of the songs on AOL Radio, I was curious enough to order the CD.

It was a TOTAL surprise! There is enough sugar in it, but there is FAR more passion than I would expect from Disney. It's a love story. (Aren't they ALL?) BUT there are enough other enjoyable moments in it to make it worthwhile. (Including what I perceive to be a suicide threat, "If I can't love her/Let the world be done with me."). Not what you'd expect!)

While the whole musical can be summarized in three of the tracks, (Prologue, to tell the premise, Something There, to show development, and End Duet to resolve the situation) that doesn't say that the other tracks are fluff. They ALL contribute to the telling of the story.

All in all, far better than I expected!

I bought this CD used and it worked extremely well. I had no problems with scratches. The only issue I had was with the arrangement of the songs on the CD. The makers had cut the end duet between Belle and the Prince right in the middle of a swell of music so that when you listen to it you have a half second pause in the middle of the soaring music before you go to the ending song. This is really annoying when you're listening to it. I think they should have combined both songs and not made it pause in the middle of the final song. Besides that there really aren't any problems with it. If you're listening to it on ear buds you have to have both of them in for most songs or else you miss some things, people's voices sound really far away or aren't there. There might be a way to fix that, but I don't know how. Anyway, it was a great CD for a very reasonable price. I recommend it.

Free Music Review: Beauty and the beast is a classic for all!
Hit: 5 Stars

The original Disney movie was made the year that I was born. It was always one of my favorite Disneys, but a have a really lot of favorite Disneys! Anyway, it was always my mom's favorite fairy tale. Then I heard about Beauty and the beast the musical! Now I'm all over musicals - that's me. I want to be on broadway, too, and be a moviestar... But enough about me, let's talk about this thrilling adventure called Beauty and the beast. I didn't know much about it until early this year for my birthday I got to see it with my mom. Turns out I like it better than the movie! I think it was clever how they made the castle objects slowly turn into candles or clocks or teapots or whatever. It was a really neat experience to see and I look foreward to someday seeing it on broadway!

Free Music Review: The Magic of Disney
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are a fan of Disney or of fluffy Broadway material there is no doubt you will love this CD. The songs from the original movie are mixed in with new songs that give the musical a bit more depth. The true standout job comes from then-broadway newcomer Susan Egan. She sounds very reminiscent of Paige O'Hara (animated version) yet brings a strength and beauty to the music that is refreshing. Her version of "Home" is good enough reason to buy this cd. Terrence Mann is also a wonder in this stellar cast. His version of "If I can't love her" adds depth to the beast while displaying the heart of his vocal talents. If the thought has ever crossed your mind to get this, then you should. It is well worth your time.
