Free Music Review: Dixie Chicks' "Fly"

The Dixie Chicks have a top winning album here, just with Cowboy Take Me Away and Goodbye Earl. The whole album is as inventive and creative as I've ever seen Country or Popular Music, and I can see why they've gotten so many awards. There are many great singers who stick to one type of theme or one style, and if they've got enough creative genius it works, but we're talking Leonardo Da Vinci creative genius in this album. A really great person can conquer many, many different styles and fields unless they have some hangup that makes them stick to one style or one field. If I may put in a plug for my usual haunts, reviewing math and physics books, the Nobel Prize winner Steven Weinberg in physics had this unusual ability to excel in many different styles and fields (see my review of his books), and Agatha Christie had this in mystery (see my reviews) and Issac Asimov in science fiction and science nonfiction writing (see my reviews).Free Music Review: AWESOME!

FLY is a great cd! I absolutley love it! Anyone can enjoy this cd, country fan or not. And all this about GOODBYE EARL... its just a song people! There are a lot of books out there about people being murdered and everything, and people think that's no big deal! It is sad that everyone is thinking like this. If you were mentally "ok" before you heard this song it is not going to make you want to go kill someone, i mean come on! This is a really fun song and havn't we all joked around before? I am VERY glad the ckicks had the guts to record this song. If you dont buy this awesome cd just because of one song you are crazy. you really dont know what you're missing! My personal favorite song on this cd is COWBOY TAKE ME AWAY but GOODBYE EARL is a very close second. they are all great songs and the girls did a wonderful job on this cd. go buy it! Exuse my unabashed fanship, but I adore the Dixie Chicks. Their chemistry, excellent song choices (which can make or break you in Nashville) and their raw talent just make them a class act. "While Goodbye Earl" got mixed reviews, I thought it was fun and a little bold, and that was the single that finally got me to go out and buy the album. The first time I played "Cold Day in July," I was hooked. The passion in Natalie's voice and the soulful playing from Emily and especially Martie (not to mention the heartbreaking harmonies) nearly brought me to tears. I just knew I would destroy the album by playing all of the tracks too much. The only one that I don't like is "Hole In My Head." I'm not sure what they were going for with that one, but everyone is entitled to one mistake. If you love modern country music, but are tired of thinly veiled pop songs sung with a southern accent, this is your holy grail.Free Music Review: More fun than you can imagine!

I had not really paid much attention to the Dixie Chicks until I saw them in Lilith Fair last month. That made me interested enough to buy both of their CDs, and I have to say, these are spectacular! And as for "Goodbye Earl" and "Sin Wagon", there is nothing rude or in bad taste about these songs. With "Goodbye Earl", if you look in the lyrics book, you will find that the Chicks have stated they do NOT condone first degree murder. They are basically stating that SPOUSAL ABUSE IS WRONG. And if you're going to do it, somewhere it will come back to haunt you in some fashion. As for "Sin Wagon", most people have at least fantasized about breaking loose as the song's subject does. I give the Chicks credit for having the guts to admit to the things that run through most people's minds at one time or another! As for the rest of the CD, it's excellent - nothing more to say!!Free Music Review: the chicks rock

i have to admit that at first i thought natalie was too twangy and thought "good-bye earl" was totally sick and demented. after all the airplay "ready to run", "cold day in july" and "cowboy take me away received i had to purchase this cd( i figured i'd bypass "earl". i discoverd beautiful ballads (heartbreak town,without you). "hole in my head rocks, while "hello mr. heartache" honky tonks!!! "if i fall" and "sin wagon" are also very catchy...the only tune i really didn't care for was "let him fly" i find i very SLOW SLOW, however i have not doubt it will grow on me (i now know all the words and walk around singing "goodbye earl") hell, i've even bought a ticket to the chicks concert in Atlanta and plan to have my hair cut short and BLONDE!!!!i've done a 360 on my orignal opinion of the chicks.....CHICKS RULE
