Free Music Review: THEY AIN'T JUST WHISTLIN' DIXIE
Hit: 5 Stars

The Dixie Chicks have made a "gift" to all of the fans of their music . . .and to all who appreciate and love great country/rock music. The Chicks recorded their tour "live", with no embellishments or studio overdubs and produced an album of marvelous pure pristine contemporary/traditional/bluegrass sounds.

This two cdset opens with a rousing, "Goodbye Earl" . . . includes my favorite "There's Your Trouble" and the toe-tapper, "Long Time Gone".
The Chicks performed a most moving rendition of their love lament or a soldier killed in war with, "Travelin' Soldier".

Truth #2 lets us know that e ar going to hear "the truth" no matter how we might not like heaing it come from their mouths. . . and Th Dixie Chicks are not afraid to speak the truth as they see it.

also, "Ready To Run" will keep you on the move with the Dixie Chicks.

This "Live" aalbum is the closestthing to a "Dixie Chicks Greatest Hits" collection . . . but has a magic absent from studio proucions.

If you have all the other Dixie Chicks albums, uy this one too . . . if you never heard The Dixie Chicks, or never bought any of their albums, but this one. You'll thank TheDixie Chicks for recording it . . .and you'll thank yourselffor purchasing it. . . bt most of all, you'll listen to it . . . again and again and again. The DixiChicks . . . they ain't just whistlin' Dixie! :)

Free Music Review: If I were only so ignorant...
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay now this is mainly a response to the moron who decided to put a bad review on the dixie "twits" and a good review on Bush. How could you not only dislike such an amazing group but to put how much you love a political disaster in the same category really shows me how sub-moronic you are. Now sure don't like the chicks but thats a fair opinion. The fact that you think bush is the best president the states has had is something you should reconsider. That f***ing moron is a worse terrorist than saddam and bin-laden together! If it weren't for the arabs threatening to dump cheap oil into the market Bush would never have claimed about weapons of mass destruction because he wouldn't have had any need to make up a stupid excuse to take the oil he thought was going to far better the fuel economy. so before you toot Bush's horn for him(and i'm sure there are enough people with brain lapses that do that already) do some research and find out what is really worth knowing not what the government feels is a worthy lie. And for the record I think that anyone with the intelligence of a fly would realize that what the chicks said about Bush was their own fair opinion and if Bush lovers want to crucify them for it well enjoy the rest of your miserable right wing life.

Free Music Review: Natalie Maines is my personal hero
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a lively, playful 2-CD romp through their big hits and favorite songs... It's nice to hear some of these songs in relatively stripped-down version (especially the stuff from the "Fly" and "Wide Open Spaces" albums, which were maybe just a leeetle bit overproduced...) Thankfully, their fans still seem to love them, despite the recent controversies regarding the band having a mind of its own (...They dared question George W. Bush's geopolitical judgement? Gasp!! String them up!!) In fact, Natalie Maines has pretty much given up on the whole mea culpa abject apologies thing (good for her!), and has become an energetic advocate for freedom of speech, tackling head-on the orchestrated attempts to censor the band... Hence her spoken intro to "Truth No. 2" in which she urges folks in the audience to visit the Rock The Vote booth, and get involved in the electoral process. Politics aside, this is also a swell album, musically speaking. Only one new song on here, though: "Mississippi," which is, frankly, a bit lumbering in its current incarnation, but I bet it'll sound swell once they take it into the studio and tinker with it a bit. I still dig the Dixie Chicks.

Free Music Review: Dixie Chicks shine again
Hit: 5 Stars

This 2-CD set is perfect for both the diehard Dixie Chick fan (like myself) who wants a couple of discs to keep around with all of their great songs together, and for someone who is new to the Chicks who wants to find out what they're all about. Anyone who thinks these women are not among the most talented musicians out there either doesn't know music very well or is too blinded by political ignorance. The Chicks blend the best elements of country and pop to create a voice and style that is all their own. While I would recommend getting all of their studio albums in addition to this live set, you really can't beat the deal here for getting all of their best songs for $13. And to the reviewer who said that the CD and DVD were too "perfect," I suppose it really can be hard to believe in this day and age of manufactured music "stars" that there are still people out there who can sing in tune on a nightly basis, but the Chicks can and do. That's called being a true professional musician. And of course the sound quality from show to show is going to be excellent. That's what professional sound engineers are for.

Free Music Review: Better than expected.
Hit: 5 Stars

Don't let the nay Sayers talk you out of this CD! This CD package is very, very good. Natalie's voice is superb! The musicianship excellent! The only thing that could possibly be a negative is that they sound so good, you think you are listening to a studio album. Yes these songs have been included on other CD's - but that should be obvious to anybody that reads the track listing. From what I can tell - all of the reviews that actually listened to the CD, and understand it is a live CD of the Dixie Chicks Top of The World Tour have not given it anything but 5 stars.

Some of the highlights of the CD are: Top of the World, Cold Day in July, Cowboy Take Me Away, Sin Wagon, Wide Open Spaces, Am I The Only One, I could continue but I will have listed them all!

No political speeches on here either except for "they said you wouldn't come - but we knew you would" and 'the rock the vote people are here, which we found out that voting is a wonderful way to express your opinion'.

This CD is worth every penny you spend on it - you will not find many other CD's that contain so much good true country music. Enjoy the music!
